I see folks from the Atlanta Track Club about once a week over on the "track", about half are ladies about 20 or so.  They are in good shape.

I will be slogging alone and hear the group of 5 or so guys coming up behind me and get out of their way.  I sort of remember being able to run like that, or close to it.  They are fast.

I saw some dude recently broke the 400 m indoor record, 44 seconds and change.  Obviously that's four 11 second hundreds, which is pretty fast, back to back to back to back.

That is a thing I don't care for in Florida, obviously there are a lot of old folks.  It made me feel old when we were out and about.  My wife made the same comment.

I have lost 45lb over the last 8 months. Slow and steady to hope to ultimately maintain after losing another 15lbs.

I intermittent fast 18-6 and generally restrict carbs but not religiously.  I am losing with a lifestyle I can live with and not a diet where I feel deprived.

I'm about the same - 41 pounds now. Shooting for another 30-40. I was WAY too heavy for my height. 5'-8". Did not look good at all.

I’ve lost about 17 pounds in the last month or so.  Not doing anything earth shattering. Really trying to cut out sweets and reduce my carb intake.  Just eat more protein and green vegetables.  My diet had nowhere to go but up though.  It was as poor as you can imagine.

I exercise regularly, usually about 6 days a week.  One day  I lift, the next is strictly cardio.  My cardio go to is stairmaster.  But even when I lift there is cardio element to it.  I do a total body workout where I jump from one exercise to another.  I don’t take 3-5 minutes between sets.

Congrats! Sounds like a pretty big overhaul.

Only thing I'd say is that 17 pounds in a month or so is likely WAY too fast. If you end up in too much of a calorie deficit it can totally eff up your metabolism. There have been studies on The Biggest Loser contestants that show that they've ended up with persistent metabolism slowdowns years after the competition. You should target no more than a 1-2 pound per week rate, based on everything I've seen.

Now... One thing might mean that 17 pounds in the first month isn't a problem... I've always noticed transitioning from a diet with carbs to one without, that there is an immediate weight loss of 5-10 lbs in the first week because carbs cause your body to retain more water.

So if the bulk of that weight loss happened the first week--that's just water and nothing to worry about. But if you're seeing weight continue to come off that quickly, you need to eat more and slow that rate down.

As I've said, I'm not really focusing on weight loss with my current fitness journey.

That said, I just saw 249.4 on the scale today. That's the first time I've been below 250 since 2016.

So that's nice.
