Interesting.  Did not know that. I’m on a statin though my number was 201.

Yeah, I'm on a statin for the first time, since about a month ago. I think it was 160??

It's weird, because I eat better now than I ever have.

They put me on one when my LDL was in the 150s, because I'm only 40, and it spiked out of nowhere.  They said, either your diet drastically changed, or you have a genetics issue, that we might as well get in front of.  My dad has it, so not a surprise.

I've never exercized more.  Since we went back post COVID shutdown, I work from home 3 days a week.  I jog 3 miles a day on those 3 days, plus weekends.  Then I spend another 20 minutes or so at night doing stretching and calisthenics.  Only real diet change in that time, is that being at home, with 3 young kids, there are a lot of tempting snacks around.  I never kept Cheez Its in my office.  So I definitely snack more during the day.  But my meals and alcohol intake have been roughly the same, and exercize has increased.

I need to go see a doctor. Haven't had a checkup nor had my labs drawn since, I think, pre-COVID. And I turned 45 last year so I understand I might have some additional things that need to get checked out.

That said I should be good cholesterol-wise. My dad never had any issue in his life. He's morbidly obese and ate badly, and he said the only time his was over 200 he ate a couple Big Macs on his way to the Dr (on what should have been a fasting draw I believe). Mine has always tested low as well.

I don't want to know what they'll say about my liver tho...

I don't health or exercise.
I'm 43, fat, and I've seen a medical professional 3 times in my adult life (all urgent care), for
1 - high ankle sprain
2 - ear infection
3 - plantar fasciitis

I keep meaning to acquire a personal physician.

If you put your beer and the remote slightly out of reach, that's also stretching

I happened across a doctor here I like a lot, he's very down to earth.  The office is three blocks away.  My wife nags me about the annual, so I do it, I might anyway really, it's no big deal to me.

I asked him about the RSV vaccine and he said he was a vaccine advocate, but not in this case for me.  I went to him when I was always out of breath and he spotted the heart arrythmia (not that it was hard to spot) and got me into the ER.  He showed me his "pocket EKG" item and suggested I get one, which I did.  It displays your heart beat on your phone like an EKG, it's pretty neat really, so if I ever have some hint of something I can check it in seconds.

That was the first time I ever spent a night in the hospital (for observation, in a bed built for folks who are 5'9").  I think going to a dentist is also important for your overall health, or so I read.

Being adopted, I have no family history of anything. When I have to fill out those family history things at the doctor's office, it's easy. Just have to write one word.

My cholesterol raised a yellow flag for the first time this year, and the doctor said stretching is the one underrated thing to reduce it, that nobody seems to do.
Never heard that at all, but it makes a certain amount of sense
