I think this will be difficult unless someone has been there.

Guangzhou

Never been there but pretty much knew it had to be Asia. But I had to do some "worlds tallest buildings" sleuthing to figure it out.

Here is one place that I've been, but unfortunately never got a good skyline photo of it myself so I'll have to borrow from others...

I figured it was Asia but had no idea which of the many cities in China, or perhaps Malaysia, it might be. That's why I suspected you'd probably been there.  I've never been to Asia, which is sort of remarkable given my training and occupation.  One of my peers who did the exact same job I did and is also a close friend, spent about a year off and on, in  Singapore and China.  I seemed to always get the comparable posts, but in Europe.

We will be landing in Munich in November. Really looking forward to that trip.

Yeah, I've been to Taipei, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur.

I want to do Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, and Beijing. Would go to any of those for vacation except possibly Singapore--I don't know if there's enough of a draw there if I'm paying for it out of my own pocket.

I greatly enjoyed Beijing, but it was a "cram all the touristy shit you can into a day and a half while jet lagged" trip. I would love to spend a couple weeks there.

We were in Fuzhou, Jiangxi province for 5 days. By no means, a tourist destination, but it was interesting to see "real" China. Virtually no one spoke English and we had to rely completely on our guide.

I do not remember much of Guangzhou, the city. We stayed on Shamian Island, which is the home to many former consulates and has a half French, half Dutch feel. It was very much isolated from the rest of the city.

We flew out of Hong Kong, but we came in by train in the dark and left in the middle of the same night. I wish we could have spent a little time there.

In which foreign country are you most likely to be served up a bowl of eyeball soup?

Oh I'm not.  I'm a huge Europhile going back to my youngest days of reading Euro-based fantasy fiction, swords and sorcerers, knights and kings, etc.  I've never had much desire to go to Asia.

For me it's not either/or... I love going to Asia, and I love going to Europe.
