He seems to live a healthy lifestyle - Much more so than I did at his age.

That's why I have so many scars on my body.

I am, not grumpy, but happy to say other than glaucoma (which hasn't progressed in 10 years) at 66 I don't seem to be acquiring any health issues associated with old age. Other than a few generic aches & pains.  I could exercise more and eat healthier, but probably not going to happen.

Now the frozen shoulder I am dealing with, which my doctor tells me is just "random", does make me grumpy, although with 6 weeks so far of PT, it is getting much better. 

That said, I see my GP every year for a complete physical and blood workup (No issues or concerns). See a Cardiologist annually (Nothing wrong so far). See a dermatologist annually since I spend so much time in the sun (Again nothing found up to this point). 

I look at other guys my age and think they either don't take care of themselves or did not win the genetic lottery.

Yeah, I do actually exercise... But that's not as part of some sort of healthy living kick... It's more to offset my excesses elsewhere

Admittedly, we cook at home basically every night, and it's a lot of "from scratch" type of meals, often made with high-quality and fresh ingredients. 

But there's a lot of red meat, we love some burgers and ribs, we'll occasionally deep-fry stuff, etc... For a while we sort of kept the carbs low, but due to working out, we don't even do that... And I haven't reached the age like some of you gents where I no longer like large portion sizes. I can easily clear a plate with a giant ~24 oz ribeye, a bunch of roasted red potatoes, and a nice salad. 

And then there's all the beer

I took my car for an oil change at the dealer, we get four free.  My wife went with me, we figured we'd get lunch up that way after.  Took a while to get checked in even though I had "preregistered" on line.  OK.  Sat around surfing etc.  Finally after 2 hours my wife gets up to walk around some and sees our car parked outside, meaning it was done.  Nobody told us.  They sent a video earlier of the car being serviced.

So, I go up to the service manager who had been talking to one dude for 20 minutes about something and finally break in, and he says "Just a minute."  Dude, car is done, that should be your priority.  Finally get car, not pleased.  Will find another dealer, we get one more free, and then I'll go to somewhere private.

Stopped off at a crazy Mexican place that had all kinds of fish and little else.  Ordered seafood soup for $18, came with an entire crab leg, plus shrimp/fish/all manner of other things ... no way they can make money on that.

Years ago I changed my own oil.  Some of my cars were harder to get underneath, but I'd manage.  It would take me half an hour, no hoist.  I'd get oily usually.

Then I started taking it to a Firestone dealer down the hill from us, I could walk home.  Their long time manager seemed to be a straight shooter.  I liked to use synthetic oil before it was that common.  Anyway, with coupons, it was just easier.  

Now I drive to the Hyundai dealer for a "free" oil change and wait nearly three hours.  They send me a video of the engine compartment and underside of the car, whatever.  And the dude started to upsell me on ... I didn't get to what, I said I just wanted an oil change.  I think they rotate the tires, whatever.

I asked last time how much they would charge and the guy said $177, but they had specials at times.  $177.  For an oil change.  On a common car.
