Yeah, I used to tout it, but I haven't gotten back to it.  It's hard to pay $100+ for something you're used to paying, what, $40 initially, then incrementally up to $70/mo.

All of the games I've wanted to watch have been on normal youtube, probably on illegal channels or whatever.  I don't care.  Billion-dollar companies can suck it.

I could never get on Hulu - once I was used to no commercials on Netflix and YT Premium, I can't go back to commercials.  Paying $100+/mo for a service with commercials hurts my brain.

Which is better, a Firestick or Roku stick?

I dislike the interface on my Samsung TV

pretty sure I'm going with the Youtube TV Sports plan when the CFB season starts

Roku, but I'm forced to use Firestick or Nokia. Had a choice. Chose Firestick.

For my outside TV's (3), I'm using Insignia Fire TV's now, so no stick needed.

Outside get abused by heat, humidity and salt air. Ate my Samsung after about 3 years.

Insignia = cheap.

Samsung is not.

I don't think I've ever used a Roku stick, I think the only Rokus I've ever used were boxes.  The interface is probably the same, I'd guess.

I've used Firesticks for years.  If you're a Prime Video user, the Firestick might be a tad bit more convenient in its home screen setup.  Overall, I don't think there's much difference between them.  The Roku feels less pushy and intrusive.....it feels a little bare bones on the home screen, which is likely preferable for many people.  Doesn't feel like it's trying to push anything on you.  The Firestick home screen advertises movies, tv shows, apps, suggests a lot of things to watch.....I happen to like that because it's how I find out about some things, but if I wanted to be left alone and have a more stripped-down experience that shuts up and just lets me get to my apps, I'd probably go Roku.

my $0.02

I had a roku box years ago - liked it.
had firestick the past couple years - it was ok

I think I'll try one of the old firesticks and see if I can make it work sufficiently with youtube tv
one of them has an ethernet port but I've always used it wirelessly

don't know if I need the roku box for more processing speed and memory for less tiling of if the stick is fine

haven't had Prime, doubt I ever will

yes, online reviews say the Roku has less stuff shoved at you than firestick

So I wonder what only $55/mo rises to afterwards? To think we swapped cable for internet streaming that in many cases is more expensive than cable was.

I prefer the Roku interface, but either is going to be light-years better than the Samsung native TV smart app.  As much as I love a Samsung TV itself, I loathe the Samsung native app just as much.
