I was in a few classes w Todd Munson at UNL and had some number of beers too.  This obit is soo Todd Munson.    Really does validate things he said to me/us some 20+ years ago.

That line has moved and vanished more than a few times this past couple days

It is believed this is the first time a 3-8 team is favored vs a 9-2 team.

I'm not touching this game.

There could have been a P5 3-8 team favored over a 902 G5 team at some point, but not in a conference game.

There is a new rumor going around that neither QB1 or QB2 practiced this week for Iowa.  Padilla and Petras both were out.

EDIT:  Latest tweets are saying Padilla and Petras did practice yesterday.  Maybe it was only a 24-hour flu?

It is also not clear clear how much this mysterious flu is affecting Iowa players.  Throw in all the Iowa players that are banged up, Iowa really could have used the week off instead of having a short week with a road game.  Oh well, somebody will show up and play.

Checking in from my daughter's house in Lincoln.  Headed out for coffee and tailgate provisions and will be tailgating by 10.

Decided it would be better to attend the game.

Otherwise another 4 hours of drinking for an old man.

Nebraska now down by 7 in a game they were controlling 14-0 to start. Will they ever win a game? Jesus this team finds ways to lose.

this is pretty f'n crazy. If he wins even half of those TD+EXP losses he's 25-19, which while isn't an amazing record- is a helluva lot better than 15-29....

Should not have been close. I don't think any of the reviews should have resulted in reversal. The Big Ten has review officials who do not apply the rules.  Iowa should have won by 14. If Goodson had not fumbled on the Nebraska 6, it would have been a 21 point Iowa win.

You got to give Iowa credit,  they had a few  bad breaks in the first 3Q but they did not quit.  Iowa had a TD in 1Q overturned.  A couple of targeting calls on Neb that were overturned.  And then Iowa fumbled in the red zone.  But Iowa kept pushing and pushing until the breaks started to even out.

But Neb just seems to be broken,  when the breaks started going against them, they just kind of collapsed.  Ok I know Neb did not actually give up,,  but Iowa's defense and special teams deserved some credit for making it look like Neb gave uo.

But in the end we all know Neb is much better than its record.  Special teams cost Neb at least 3 wins this year.  If they can get at least get that fixed next year, Neb will start winning some games.

Frost will turn it around. Smothers is the QB of the future.
For Iowa, let's give credit to those not usually credited. Henry Marchese, a senior, from Vernon Hills, Illinois blocked the punt. Kyler Fisher, a sophomore, from Farnhamville, Iowa, caught it in the air, and ran it into the end zone.
Henry Marchese, a senior, has not played a regular offensive or defensive play in his career at Iowa. His punt block was absolutely brilliant. A week ago he laid down a block that sprung Charlie Jones on a kickoff return against Illinois.
These two guys, Kyler Fisher and Henry Marchese, are Hawkeye Heroes.

Agree that Henry Marchese is a great story for Iowa.  Especially in this age when many players enter the transfer portal if they are not starting by their 2nd year.

Speaking of transfer portal,  Iowa's QB's will have an interesting choice this off--season.  I don't know if Padilla getting pulled was due to the flu or what.    But I have a hunch that the coaches have decided that they are going to start Petras over Padilla when they are both healthy.  But the difference is small enough that Padilla will get the nod if Petras is a little banged up.  I guess we will find out for sure when Iowa plays in its bowl game, or possibly the CCG,  but I am not sure everybody will be healthy for the CCG

If that is the case,  Padilla has to decide is it better to start on another team,  or stick with Iowa and wait for Petras to get hurt again.  Or maybe be content to sit on the bench for Iowa and never start again.  That's a personal choice.  I am guessing he would transfer.
