Somewhat ironic considering that Purdue turned to actually be a winnable game for Nebraska.

Oh well. People in search of a reason to feel insulted can always find one.

agreed, especially vs teams like Purdue and OSU

Even teams like Wisconsin and Iowa have backs and TEs that can run and stretch the field

LBs can't run and cover
Really, in this offensive environment, we should be fielding SS hybrids at those positions, if we are bound and determined to stick with the damned 34. We probably see 3 WRs on the field 80% of the time, which would normally kick out the Nickel package for most DCs.
Between 3 DL and two ILB there should be plenty of size on the field to play the run if they posses the requisite BIG-level talent. Nobody is lining up in the Wishbone.
Or we can play guys that are 6'4" 240+ that cannot play the slant route and handcuff our options because they require safety help over the top. That's an option too...if you're playing defense 1988-style.

Coaches searching for bulletin board material can always find it. Usually they have to dig pretty deep, but Frost hung that one right over the plate. He basically implied that Purdue doesn't belong on the same field as Michigan. That may well be true, but you don't call them out about it right before the game. You're not in the AAC anymore, Toto.

yup, when your 3-4 looks and acts more like the 5-2 McBride was running in 88, that's a problem

at lease McBride's DEs in the 5-2 could pressure the passer, knock down passes, and set the edge.

so, what beach ball did Urban or one of his staff or players give the Boilers to fire them up?
because the Boilers were fired up that night - more so than in Lincoln

Looking at the stats, you'd think UNL won.  timing of penalties and turnovers kills..

That’s Frost shaking hands with Boilers coach Jeff Brohm right after losing, and that’s Purdue running back Markell Jones quipping in Frost’s direction “winnable game.”

that's great, but we already agreed to this.
What about the Boiler's motivation for the Buck game?  Or weren't they really all that motivated and just whooped yer arse while yawning?

tough to balance giving your team confidence and not boasting too much.   I think Purdue's staff did a good job taking a comment that was directed at Frost's team... to keep their heads up... keep focus... and make it an insult.  Good on them.

But I've seen this script before.  Bo Pelini played it all the time.   You can only be insulted so often before it wears itself out.....  And then you are left with a foundation built on emotion that crumbles at times.

I'm sure he used something, but we will never know what because it wasn't all out in the media.
I think you guys are missing the point. I didn't say he was wrong. Nor am I offended by his comments.
I said it was dumb to serve up bulletin board material on a silver platter, and provided video evidence that it didn't go to waste.

OK, I haven't thought this through, but I'm going to go ahead and agree with you on this one.
Doesn't feel right that I'm agreeing with you and I'm sure Nubbz will chastise me for it, but WTH?

Its a huge reach IMO. Nobody, anywhere, equates Purdue with Michigan....except in West Lafayette and this forum.

And nobody equates UCF as the defending National Champions outside of Lincoln and Orlando.
