Yeah, no kidding. If UW were headed here, I'd be going.
My fam and I are going.  No way in hell was I going to NYC, and while I have pals in Detroit, I'll take the 5.5 hr drive into the warmer direction.
Tough game for Purdue especially with our D Line dropping left and right after being a big weakness most of the season anyway.

Very excited for the match up btw.  Purdue's 1st ever game vs a school from Bama.

Not the matchup I was hoping for...

Talent-wise, Auburn is going to be deeper at probably almost every position. I was hoping for a team that was closer to Purdue's situation, not a team stacked with highly-rated players that underperformed.

In some ways this becomes a "can't win" situation. Lose, and you've lost to a 7-5 Auburn team in a tailspin. Win, and you beat an "unmotivated" Auburn.

Still, given the options, let's just hope Purdue goes out and cleans their clocks.
Exactly. As much as Purdue has been up and down [losing to EMU/Minnesota, beating BC/OSU/Iowa], we know that to an extent in those wins they were overachieving their talent level, whereas Auburn is underachieving their talent level.
I just hope we catch them napping, upset that they're up against "just Purdue". But if their coaches have any sense [debatable I know] they're going to be pointing out the three ranked teams that Purdue upset, so the Auburn players don't look past us. And I'll bet they'll be reminding those players of what UCF did to them too, and that Purdue is more than capable of doing the same if they aren't "motivated".
Word early in the broadcast is that Malzahn showed the Auburn players the last minute of the UCF game shortly before this game to remind them what losing feels like.
This is why I said this was a crap matchup for Purdue.

He had plenty of more recent footage of bad losses to show them

I took every Big Ten team but Iowa in my pool, with trepidation, but after those first two, I was feeling good.  I thought I put more confidence points on Purdue than I actually did, but I fell from 1 point t out of first to way down the chart because a lot of people had a lot of points on Auburn.

I don't actually think MSU will win either, but even when I don't think they will, I take them and put 1 point on them, bc why not?

Running clock and two possessions ending inside the Purdue 5.

Auburn brought in the 2nd and 3rd team players and ran the ball on every down to make it easy on us.

Hard to know the right thing to do in that situation, on the Auburn side of things.  What's the least disrespectful thing to do?  What do you owe your backups?  Run your offense with the starters = no.  Run your offense with the backups is okay...unless they're too effective.  Then you just run the ball up the middle every play with your backups, which isn't really respecting anyone, it's barely football.  When you're in FG range, is going for it on 4th down polite?  What if you keep getting the 1st downs?  Then you look like an A-hole.  But FGs put more points on the board.

Basically, in this instance, Auburn mercy-ruled PU and there were no right answers.  Awkward to watch, even envisioning yourself as a PU player/coach or AU player/coach.

Osborne once sent a grad assistant to Sonny Lubick, who was a friend,  at halftime vs. Colo st. and told him he was going to run to the tackles the 2nd half.  FB,  IB, QB keeps .

You are clumping the loss to Minnesota in with the loss to EMU?  I didn't realize that the 6-7 Boilermakers should have expected to beat the 7-6 Gophers rather than lose 41-10.
