I've said this many times before and I'll say it again after the conventions:

330 million people and these are our two choices?
or the old saying there are 50 contestants for Miss America and 2 for the POTUS? :017:

Haley slams Trump after he hit her over absence of deployed husband | The Hill
she should probably just shut the fk up....and she should have already been done drop out. what a delusional out of touch egotistical brain dead bitch and billionaire ball-licker sell out corporate establishment shill she is.
Why don't you clean trump's cack out of your eye sockets already. Her husband is serving did you or Trump? What the hell did the red headed step child even open his blow hole regarding that forShe has ripped Obama on how his policies fell far short of the talk. Also she was a child of legal immigrants but is in favor of strong immigration policies. She also voted against a Boeing when she was on their BoD for them about receiving a stimulus package favoring them during the covid 19 - she resigned. So at least she has to have some scruples. And her husband is stationed over seas,so what's that asshole's point about him? Haley's have been married 25yrs what's the longest the redheaded step child donnie has stayed committed to one woman? His next wife hasn't been born yet.You got all the answers why don't you run?

To me anyway, Trump's comments were ill advised, all too typical, pointless, and another example of how negative he is at heart.  His actual "proposals" are to drill drill drill and close the border, which I guess plays well with his base.  Maybe he'll "ban Muslims from entering while he's at it.

Meanwhile, the US today has record high oil production, and it's up to the drilling companies to drill, or not, usually depending on pricing.  As for closing the border, I can't even imagine what is meant by that.  Mexico today is our largest trading partner.
Trump doesn't just go on the attack for fun. He's an egomaniac- if someone strokes his ego, he loves them. Someone attacks him- well he hits back 100x harder as most psychopaths do. And she has been attacking him non-stop, all in a pathetic attempt to win a nomination she has a less than zero shot of winning. She's nothing but joke. She's getting crushed in all the polls- she's down by like 38 points in her own state, she lost 2.5x to 1 in Nevada to NONE OF THE ABOVE. She's an establishment right-wing war hawk shill being propped up by the billionaires she boot licks for. Nothing more.

And closing the border is exactly what it sounds like...trying to stop mass illegal immigration from Mexico. And it's not like all of the illegals crossing are Mexican. The Chinese are the fastest growing set of peoples crossing into the border. And of course there are plenty of other people from Central and South American countries coming in through Mexico.

I'd rather we didn't get too far into the weeds on this.

I will say that I don't think "drill drill drill" is correct. It's more about energy independence rather than begging the Saudis to produce more.
it's not even so much about energy independence. it's more diplomatic competence. having the ability to get the Saudis to cut-back on oil production when you want them to is just as important as getting them to ramp up production when you want them to. and unfortunately our senile geriatric president shits-his-diapers has alienated the saudis to the point where they are now making deals to trade their oil in other currencies and continually embarrass him on the worlds stage, continually give him the finger for the entire world to see and basically do not co-operate on anything in the US interest, and that relationship was literally the complete opposite under Trump.

saudis trading their oil in US dollars exclusively and ramping production up or down based on when it benefits us is vital to US world economic dominance and our national security. President Shits-his diapers has done so much damage to that relationship in under 4 years- that it's downright insane. how can someone fk it up that bad in such a short amount of time? JFC.

Your first sentence is directly related (backwards) to the rest of your post.
Energy independence nullifies the importance of voting in our own smarmy guy to talk up the smarmy country.
Not needing the Saudis is a valid goal.

I think the Saudis adjust oil production based more on demand by the market than any President's wishes.  They want reasonably stable and predictable pricing, drifting higher over time.

I do find it ironic that US oil production is setting records despite a "war on oil".  It's a thing Democrats can't really claim as an asset.

I had hopes at one point that EVs would be a "solution" to much of this, but now I view it as a "maybe longer term" maybe.

The price action of gold over the past three years puzzles me some.

They do feature some specials at times that look good.

I had what is called a Turkish breakfast today at another place.  It was solid.

This morning, I was up early and unloaded the dishwasher.  I was starting with the cutlery when I determined the machine had indeed not been run.  I had to take all the plates and bowls back out and turn it on.

As for knife positioning, I learned not to put sharp knives in facing down.  It wears holes in the baskets and they are pricey to replace.

I'm getting younger all the time.
