I remember being taught geography in 1st grade. It was a map showing our school on it, and you could point out your house/apartment building.

That would have been better.

"We" all fear for the next generation.

But why?

"We" are allowing to happen.

But why?

We had very little concern for our kids.

It’s because the Texas coastline gets almost no coverage in TV and movies. When you think of Florida it’s all alligators, Key West, Destin, Daytona Beach, and Pensacola.

California is all LA, Beach Boys, Malibu, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge.

Texas is the Alamo, Cowboys, John Wayne movies, tumble weeds, and Dallas (TV show not the city). Galveston falls on nobody’s must visit bucket list. SPadre is pretty nice I hear.  Never really been there myself. But it gets no press.
This is all true.

But it doesn't excuse this level of stupidity.

All you have to do is look at a map, look at the largest piece of the lower 48, and you'll clearly see that it's on the Gulf.

The vast majority of the Lower 48 is not landlocked. If a barge can get there, you're good.

In general, the Rocky Mountain states are landlocked. I think Vermont is too (with respect to shipping).

I was going to post a question of whether states / countries with only river access to an ocean are considered "landlocked". I was thinking specifically of states on the Mississippi river that are otherwise considered landlocked but one of their borders is defined by the river. But instead of posting here I googled it.

Apparently they are. Because where the river empties into the ocean is controlled by a state/nation other than themselves, they are considered landlocked.
