There are some places around that use trimmings for their burgers. I'll order one with no bun and eat it like a steak. Love it.

I like a good burger.  I like a good steak.

I love perfectly smoked brisket.  That is the Lord Emperor of all beef dishes.

But my favorite protein, or to put it differently if I could just have one protein the rest of my life-- is shrimp.  It's so versatile, can be cooked in so many ways, can hold so many different flavor profiles.  That's my #1.

Plenty of that in the waters here. We eat it a lot.

Yup, same here.  Lotsa scrimps, lotsa ersters, in the gulf.

When I was working at AMD I worked with a bratty, cocky young kid from San Francisco, who once told me that he wouldn't eat seafood in Texas because Texas is "landlocked."  He literally said that.  I just laughed at him and walked away.

Wow.

Talk about ignorance.

I'd say Texas has more coastline than any other states besides Florida and California.

Umm, just for the record, you forgot the state that has more coastline than California and Florida combined.

Ya know, these days I honestly prefer a great burger over a great steak.
Yes definitely burger over steak and I prefer meat ground up and in some kind of sauce with cheese. Just never could get into a slab of meat, whatever kind it is.

I think I would eat cardboard covered in sauce and cheese.

Yup.

He was a stereotypical coastal elite.  Born and raised in the Bay Area, went to one of those snooty private colleges on the east coast that rich people think are good but are really just a bought diploma.  He'd have been a perfect 80s teen movie popped-collar douchebag villain.

In fairness, something like 30% of this country couldn't point to where Texas is on a map of the United States, so not knowing whether it is "land-locked" or not isn't exactly surprising.
