His point was that higher taxes hit the say 30-99% MUCH harder than the 1%. This is unavoidable for at least two reasons:
  • Taxable income is a MUCH larger fraction of wealth for them than the 1%.
  • The higher you are the more flexibility you have to avoid taxes.

His words were copied  and pasted from FoxNews, too.

Hence my statement on the coastal elites. They hold their money, and they hold their power.
Regardless of party affiliation.

Newsom has said a replacement for Feinstein would be temporary, not one of the current candidates.  I don't think it matters at all, anyone appointed would vote in lock step with their party.  The way I look at all of this is Democrats want to fix the deficit by more spending, Republicans want to fix the deficit by cutting taxes.  They end up doing both over time, except for fixing the deficit of course.

We still have most of the Bush tax cuts in place, and most of the Trump tax cuts in place, etc.  As for spending, well, Republicans like to TALK about cutting it.  Somehow.

Wrong.
Demonizing "coastal elites" suggests middle America is somehow innocent or victimized.
There's plenty of big corporations in the midwest and Texas.
Pretending rich people on the coasts are any different than ones inland is bastardizing things and increasing the polarization of the urban and rural divide.

It doesn't help anything.  It's inaccurate.

Agreed.
Both parties' ideas on this are hot garbage.  The republicans go a little further by pretending they'd actually spend less than the Dems, but that's an obvious lie.  It's hard to cut spending when you wage perpetual war.

1. Of course there are. And they mostly keep to themselves and don't dive into trying to change this country (save for some plumber butt governor in Illinois).

2. Newsflash!! This has been going on since 1776.

I respect you enough to not believe you're this naive.
