Look at all the DO_ in this country, and the number of agencies under them. It's astonishing.

What I then like to do is go back and see when they were created, and by whom.

I'd just like to cut the fat and spending

placing blame isn't real important

all politicians are guilty of reckless spending

I'll pick one.

Why was HUD created?

Do we need HUD?

And if we do, why do we?

I can't see any politician of whatever stripe really cutting the scope of Federal government, so whether it's needed or not is basically irrelevant.

It's a bit amusing to note how many were created under Nixon.

So, the House passed a bill to avoid a shutdown. Oh well.

They've shut down before (4 years ago??) and I never noticed.

Now all of those lemmings get to go suck the clock on Monday.

Not that I'd notice.

Oh stop and frisk. What a profoundly unAmerican thing.
It worked.

Never thought you a puppet until now.
Where do you live again?
His point was that higher taxes hit the say 30-99% MUCH harder than the 1%. This is unavoidable for at least two reasons:
  • Taxable income is a MUCH larger fraction of wealth for them than the 1%.
  • The higher you are the more flexibility you have to avoid taxes.

Poor people have more single mothers AND more kids.

It's brilliant.

Hence my statement on the coastal elites. They hold their money, and they hold their power.

I suspect the wealthy often have many of the same troubles we have, though with money some of that can be bought off of course.  If somehow I won some lotto thing, I'd spend most of my efforts trying to give it away to causes that seem to be doing some good, I do that now but obviously with a relative pittance.

It worked.
Think anything like that would have existed for 5 seconds if it largely targeted rich white people in a similar way?
