LMAO Twain was right - don't argue with an idiot,he'll drag you down to his level and win with experience. you're an ebola chimp that has found a poppy field and realizing hallucinations again. So precious when is the next board meeting, perhaps we can share your smashing new insights
Am I the only one here finding his posts oddly severe?  Was my post about the make-up of school boards inflammatory or radical?
I'm honestly mystified right now.

That’s true, but you also have people screaming bloody murder about the perfectly acceptable snaps. I would not enjoy that job.
Oh for sure.

Police departments and sheriff's offices across Minnesota that contract with school districts are reconsidering those relationships as concerns swirl over a new law restricting the use of force and restraints on students.

In some cases, that may mean the suspension of longstanding programs that use school resource officers.

"In some schools, school resource officers wear school attire," said Keith Ternes, a spokesman with the Anoka County Attorney's Office. "They may be wearing a polo with the school name on it. They occupy an office that is provided by the school."

Now with the new law, many law enforcement agencies may look for ways to minimize or eliminate formal associations with a school. That's because officers and even law enforcement agents providing security for sporting events fear they would open themselves up to lawsuits if they respond to criminal conduct with any kind of physical force.

Many agencies interpret the ban on restraints to mean that officers working in schools can respond only if they perceive an imminent threat of violence or death.

Meanwhile, police officers and sheriff's deputies on duty elsewhere — who have no contract with the school — won't be bound by those rules, effectively creating two sets of standards in responding to campus incidents.

"If they're acting as an agent of a school, the new legislative changes puts them in a position where in all practicality they have to remain hands-free," said Jeff Potts, executive director of the Minnesota Police Chiefs Association. "That's the rub."

They aren't?

This is an honest question, not trying to mix in this debate, this just surprised.

For reference, in Ohio they are paid. To be fair the compensation is nominal for most. I *THINK* some very large districts have significant compensation but in Suburban districts like mine the compensation is nominal.
I served on our local school board for a couple of terms. Yes were were paid a nominal sum based on the number of board meetings in which we were in attendance. It worked out to about $1,000 per years of which I donated to the school booster club (of which I was also the President).

As for protests, we would occasionally have an angry parent or other member of the community sign up to speak to an issue near and dear to their heart at our meetings. Sometimes, it didn't really even have anything to do with the school, but we gave them a few mins to speak and that generally made them feel better.

Complaining to your school board won't get you in trouble, trespass obviously can, threats can, etc.  I knew several of the members of ours, they seemed like OK folks overall.  Nobody is going to call the police because a parent has a gripe.  And maybe somewhere there is a single exception.

So much gets distorted these days, but it generate interest and clicks.

CNN names former New York Times CEO Mark Thompson as its chief (cnbc.com)

Decades ago when I traveled a fair bit on business, CNN was my "go to" in the morning to listen to when getting dressed for the day.  It was a way to "keep up".  We didn't have much internet news, it was cable.  I have toured the CNN facility here a couple times, the first was pretty interesting.  There is a downtown street here renamed for Ted Turner.  Now it all seems to "yesterday".

The article above mentions cord cutting, a think we all know is going to be quite a shift overall.  I could see a day when watching CFB means paying for an Internet subscription rather than cable/sat.  and it's nearly all streamed.

I doubt this is what we want posted here, but I have to share this all over the place.  He's my good friend in Vegas.  Football nerd like us.  Aside from his ailments, his family is in a pinch right now.  If you can donate or share with others who might, please do.

Sorry for posting, but I can't not exhaust my meager online presence for him.
Thank you.
