In my view, Presidents usually have much less to do with the economy and the stock market than many believe.  "We" blame, or credit them, for economic factors which often are outside their control or influence.

Wait, so does that mean Biden is still an evil buffoon trying to destroy America?

The X-59 aircraft—the centerpiece of NASA’s Quesst mission—is designed to demonstrate the ability to fly supersonic, or faster than Mach 1, while reducing the loud sonic boom to a quiet sonic thump. NASA will then fly the X-59 over several communities to gather data on human responses to the sound generated during supersonic flight. NASA will deliver that data set to U.S. and international regulators to possibly enable commercial supersonic flight over land.

So, the reason we don't have faster flights is because the noise is unpleasant?

It's just unfamiliar to you.
That's all.
Jesus.
Try driving one and get back to me. Then drive a Benz and tell me what you like better.

I'll hang up and listen for my answer.

The 2 I test drove were brand new.

I hated the ride, the suspension and the handling ( or lack thereof). Plus- how can a new car have that many rattles?

The car just felt like junk.
I only rode in one*, briefly.  It seemed OK from that seat, my step son liked it.  He's sort of an early adopter.  I wouldn't buy an EV at this point even if one is well built and engineered.

*I rode a fair bit in a European VW EV taxi, it seemed pretty solid, to me.  I'd consider one in Europe, Norway is already past the halfway point in new car sales.

Exactly.

And as for #46, the standard question applies.

Are you better off today than you were 2.5 years ago?

I ask whether the country is better off.  I am better off than 2.5 years ago personally, but that isn't how I look at the political fray.

I have.
Didn't notice any rattling or shabby feelings towards it.
It took some getting used to.
The fact that it doesn't coast was the biggest thing for me.  Hard habit to break, but you didn't mention that difference at all.
Just unfamiliar.
Different.
Not crap.

I expect my next vehicle will be a hybrid, maybe a plugin hybrid, not a full EV, but that hopefully is 3-4 years out.  I've already given up on having a manual transmission.

We have EV plugins in the building, and six more at nearby Kroger.  I understand they cost about 3X more than plugging in at home.

As we've talked about quite a bit on the EV thread, I'd really love for someone to develop a hybrid SUV/pickup with a high-end towing capacity.  It seems like an absolutely perfect use case to me, but I guess I'm in a deep minority because if there were a market for it, I have no doubt the truck manufacturers would be all over it.

Damn, some of you are anti-progress no matter what.  It's nuts.
Looking at from an economic standpoint- the greatest impact an administration typically has on inflation is directly related to their spending policies/ budget, as well as specific policies or legislation they may have pushed through that has clear impacts on consumers.  Inflation for example- is much more impacted by the Fed.

In that sense- the Fed has been, and will continue to try to bring inflation under control through 2 primary ways.  Interest rates and balance sheet. They have intentionally stamped the liquidity out of the market with the balance sheet and drastically slowed, consumer spending and business spending by raising interest rates. It is painful, but it is starting to work and probably had to be done. Unfortunately, they still have a way to go.

Biden’s ( Democrat) spending has been completely out of control, and exacerbate was the problem, regardless of whether you agree, or disagree with what he spending the money on. There is no debate about that.

Evil?  Not sure he is capable of that because that would require solid thought.

Buffoon?  On his good days, maybe.

instead of spending hours, giving all the reasons that I am so many, millions of others feel that way I will just give you a couple.

He is by far the most racist, divisive, and corrupt president of my lifetime.  He promised to be the great uniter, but every word out of his mouth is divisive, or racially, motivated, and he has a weaponized. The FBI and the department of justice two levels were it’s gone from unbelievable to almost humorous at this juncture.  His rhetoric about any one who doesn’t agree with him, or supports a different party than his, or the supreme court, are downright dangerous.

Add in the fact that he doesn’t know what day it is mocha the time or where he’s at and yes you have a complete buffoon.

It’s great being American. We have had two buffoons in a row in the White House and no sign of relief coming anytime soon.

Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

I'm for progress if it makes sense. EV's, to me, are not progress. They could get there, but they are not.

The matter of poor build quality could be related to one maker.  The other issues are pretty much the same for everyone at this point.  My guess is 5-7 years to reach near parity.
