My concern more relates to Presidential power and scope than the specific thing.  Could he forgive $100 K of debt?  All of it?  If it's legal to do $10/$20 K, why stop there?

And isn't Congress supposed to be involved?  I understand former students are often under a lot of debt, so are many others, but the concept to me is quite troubling, I don't know what the limits would be on this much power.

we're all too close to operating like a Banana Republic.   DoJ/IRS are linked arm and arm,  all we need is a little nudge from the Executive branch, the Congress to shrug its shoulders as has been their practice and we're right there with [fill in the blank].
