What would you say is one of the most misunderstood things about it?
Two ways to answer that...

One is that most people who claim an ideology are doing it as identity, and don't know anything about it. I.e. someone wants to claim to be a "Marxist" because it's fashionable and edgy and so they only gain a cursory understanding of it. In short, like a *lot* of beliefs, they're pretty much poseurs.

They are Marxists because they are idealists and think that somehow they'd have much better lives if only the government would give them the rich peoples' money.

However if you dig into it, I'd say one major misunderstanding is this:

They don't understand that Marx actually appreciated capitalism quite a bit. He had studied Adam Smith and he credited capitalism with besting feudalism and creating material gain far in excess of what came before it. However, he thought it was more of a transitionary stage on the way to communism, because he thought the inevitable end of capitalism was it turning on itself. I think a lot of Marxists think that he believed capitalism to be inherently evil, rather than a stop-on-the-road, so to speak.

How so?

Most Jews don't identify this way. There are Jews all over the world, and most of them identify as "Jewish" rather than the country they are in.

It is good to know that I'm a German-Catholic from Chicago, living in Florida. So, Florida-Catholic I guess.
To answer the how so, you can be Irish-Catholic from Boston, Chicago, Ohio, whatever. And it doesn't mean you actually hit up mass every day. It's kind of a cultural thing.

Most jews identify both nationally and locally. I.e., I'm an American Jew from the Bay Area. I don't think I've met many jews at all who don't identify with their country. I suppose that could be an age thing. Some older Jews have particular issues with the countries where they came from and how they and their families were treated because of their heritage. So that might be a contributing factor to folks in your circles.

(In some cases, there are social histories that have made jewish folks an "other," so I suppose that could contribute)

Yes, and it's also true that there are some distinct ethnic markers of certain Jewish lineages. For a long time, whether due to their choice or the social histories BAB mentions, Jewish cultures have been rather insular without a tremendous amount of mixing with Gentiles.

For example, 23andMe says I'm 22.5% Ashkenazi Jewish. With my maternal grandmother being Jewish (and my other grandparents not), she likely would have been nearly 100% if you tested her DNA. My wife's best friend is pretty much 100% Sephardic Jew (I believe, obv I haven't looked at her 23andMe).

So it's more than just a religious thing, it's got ethnicity built in.

Good stuff guys. And yes, age probably plays a part here. Those who came from behind the iron curtain are likely not proud of that.

Right on Que😂😂.  AntiFro comes in and shows why he is considered so radical and so far from realty- and validates why teachers are so fucked up.
I am sure do enjoy talking to second graders about sex  And their bodies.  You call it progress.  In reality it’s pedophile. .

you really are one sick SOB. You- and your tribe are everything wrong in this world.

This is what your mind jumps to?  Teachers attempting to help students understand the world around them - what they see on TV and online, but probalby not in their daily lives.....and somehow you connect that with this?

You should be banned from this board for even suggesting this.  By calling me a sick SOB combined with the phrase before it, you're out of line.
I reported your post and it will be ignored by the echo chamber mods.

again its not the job of the school to inform a child of things that the parent does not

How in the hell are we supposed to know what you haven't informed your child about?  LOL
This is madness.

It is interesting that when Marxism did take over a country it wasn't a highly industrialized country as Marx thought but rather Russia which was probably the least industrialized country in Europe.
