Because they don't have options!
All they have is their day-to-day.  They can't afford to take a day off to seek other employment.  They can't afford to take a day off to seek cheaper housing further away.  They can't afford to travel to work from further away.

This is akin to asking why the starving people in Somalia don't just move to where the food is.
This my friend is complete and utter bull honky. Because 200+ years ago my ancestors, probably your ancestors and everybody else on this board ancestors, got on a boat with little to nothing, sailed for months to a land they knew nothing about, maybe even a land where they didn’t even speak the language all because they were seeking a better life.

The people you are saying don’t have time to move to a new place are like millionaires compared to our ancestors. They have unlimited knowledge, or at least access to knowledge on their person 24 hours a day. They have electricity, at least some form of mobility whether it is public transportation, cabs, cars, whatever. They have freedom, the ability to go where they want, pursue what they want. It’s not like India where your born into a caste or what they call it.

No, they continue to live in these places because they want to, but it seems that a lot have finally had enough and they’re getting out, moving to places that have better wages, more opportunities, and more affordable housing. The rest mostly sit around and complain about high cost of living, low wages, same song and dance.

Our ancestors were the same color as the people already here and thriving.  Sure, they were spat on, but if they shut up and worked hard, they could blend in.
Kind of a big difference there.

Why are you guys such fanboys of the biggest corporations?  They fuck over the "little guy" endlessly.  You probably lament the end of small-town America in one breath and buy more stock in Walmart with your next.
.
<slow clap>
You're making more ignorant sweeping generalizations than anyone not on the house floor. Not many here work for the 1%ers. And of course they have manipulated markets and have bought the politicians and if you think pelosi and brandon and his handlers aren't amongst them you picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue. Perhaps even Red China who has bought up a sizeable amount of farm land and meat processing. How has that worked out, never mind you wouldn't admit it anyway.

How about the Dems and the Reps that dumped their investments before the housing market crashed in'08 and again in Jan 2020 when Covid was breaking news - nothing was done to either side of the political isle - nothing. Both Finestein and Pelosi and the rest of the rickety unhinged half wits that fell inline behind them should ALL be in the bighouse - with the sodomites,no cushy preferential digs. But both still slurp and belch on the house floor as everyone watches this charade play out and does nothing. The Supreme Court and the FBI has leaned about as far left as even they thought possible. We ain't in Kansas anymore

Well don't worry, the only thing you have in common with OAM is picking a HORRIBLE example to use for consolidation of an industry.

Craft/import 1970-2012:

And then to compare 2012-2022 since I couldn't find them on a single graph:

ABInbev and SABMillerCoors might be trying to consolidate... But they're losing drinkers.

Hell, Constellation Brands (owner of Modelo) tried to make a big splash maybe a decade ago buying Ballast Point for a cool $1B. Failed to do anything with it, and sold them recently to some Chicago company nobody had even heard of until they bought it.

Heck, how smart is AB? They wanted to tap into the seltzer market, so they created Bud Light Seltzer. Seltzer drinkers don't drink it because it's Bud Light, and Bud Light drinkers won't drink it because it's not beer. (Admittedly, neither is Bud Light IMHO...)

In 1978 (when homebrewing was legalized) there were 89 breweries in the US. There are now 150 craft breweries in San Diego County, and in 2022 there were close to 10,000 nationwide.

Things are getting BETTER, not worse, in the beer industry.

Yeah, and a lot of people are born on third base.  No need to pretend you hit a triple to get there.

You're ignoring the numbers on the y-axis.  Single digits.  Just give it time, the 3-4 major producers will buy up and suppress all of these single-digit, regional upstarts.  It's inevitable.

The post I quoted was a deliberately ignorant suggestion that everyone just has to try hard and everything will work out....which is bullshit.

Lost me they still consolidated BIG and  MANY of those imports were swallowed by the other two. Same thing with the Crafts Goose Island in Chicago got bought out by one for instence. It's what they do,some may operate independently but they're still under the umbrella. Crafts undeniably have made for better quaffing however
