making it more difficult rather than less difficult to perform illegal acts seems to be the right thing to do, regardless how practical it would be to eliminate something completely

no sense in putting up a wall on the border cause someone will build a tunnel under it or scale over it.

deterrents don't completely stop something, but many times are proven to reduce numbers

which is good

Also, the term Assault Weapon is NOT an industry term and is in fact just a made up term invented to scare people. Whenever that term appears in legislation, it is a sure sign that those writing said legislation, know NOTHING about firearms.

fully automatic weapons have been illegal for a long time

I don't think semi-auto has any chance of being made illegal

currently its open season on our southern border with very little effort from Washington to improve the situation

why would we allow the drug cartel a free reign

The cartels have free reign now in effect, and will continue to have it no matter who gets elected to what.

wait you know that its coming in at legal border crossings

wow youre connected

anyway shutting down the border means just that which includes all crossings
Ahh, so it doesn't matter how many people we hurt that have legitimate reasons to cross the border. Let's just say "screw you" to law-abiding people who have done nothing wrong at all, to solve a problem that they have nothing to do with.

How is that different from banning guns from ALL citizens (even the law-abiding people who have done nothing wrong) in order to solve the nation's mass shooting problem?

closing our border does not violate a constitutional right

banning guns in the US does

news flash non citizens do not have a right to come to the US

I was thinking of the volume of trade across the border.

Take the 2A out of it for a second. Even if there was no 2A, would it be an acceptable argument to ban guns from law-abiding people, who may want them for sport, or need them for personal protection, because some bad apples commit crimes with them?

Oh and BTW not all Southern border crossings are by people who are not US citizens. There are plenty of legitimate reasons for our own citizens to cross. Shutting down all crossings stops them too.

yes thats the pressure we were using to force Mexico to enforce restrictions on both drugs and illegals

under Brandon this was very quickly done away with

we should only allow steady trade if Mexico does what it should do

we allow trade to cross the border with increased security

maybe we could relocated some of the 80,000 IRS employees to beef up border security

The answer is no to banning guns and the Founding Fathers also agreed with this

of course there would be allowances made however there would not be the addition of millions of illegals to our country and the flow of drugs would be adversely affected

maybe instead of using the words shut down I should have used the word secured instead

Ok, that's fair. IMHO there can be things done that could make our border more secure. But shutting it down to ALL crossings is in my opinion harmful, and immoral.

Especially since I don't think it would put as much as dent in the drug problem, which is a demand-side problem.

Hard to really know how much difference a secure border would make with the drug flow but if we could save just one life it would be worth it

right now we have a President who cares more about letting transgender boys compete with girls then he does about the southern border
