regardless of anything and everything............

before a person handles a weapon, they themselves are responsible for checking to see if it's loaded

ESPECIALLY if you're going to point it at someone and possibly pull the F ing trigger

#1 rule in gun safety AND just common sense

Alex did NOT do this and therefore was obviously negligent and reckless

Idk, if it's a movie set and a "prop gun," is it even an actual "weapon?"  It shouldn't be.
Yup with all the look alike toys/cap guns why were/are they even flirting with disaster or tempting fate. They should get 10 yrs hard time

I have not yet read just how live rounds got into that gun

I suspect the real fault lies there

I wonder why the prop guy has not been charged

that's Alex's only hope

find the person that put in the live rounds and charge them with 1st degree

I would not say its his only hope but that that there is a lot of info not being made public

once we find out the answers it will be much clearer why Alex was charged

If there is no additional info they will never convict him

My understanding is that the prop guy, known in the biz as an armorer, is a girl who "should" have known her shit.

I think when all the literal smoke clears it will come out that somebody on the set irresponsibly took these prop guns out for target/shooting practice.  Probably by somebody who was not raised around guns.  They took a bunch of weapons, whatever was available, went out into the New Mexico desert, shot some shit up for fun, and shot so many guns that these were simply loaded and forgot about.  Most likely under some kind of influence (alcohol/drugs/both).  Guns were returned to the set, nobody knew they were gone, armorer got lazy and didn't check them all, and then disaster strikes.

I will also say that invariably you have to have people "in the line of fire" when filming a movie, and you may find this part controversial, but the woman who was killed bears some responsibility in this thing as well because she placed herself in the line of fire.  Two people were shot, but how many people were really needed in the line of fire?  Maybe only one, the camera man, and as I stated there should always be some kind of bullet proof enclosure protecting the people from the hazard.

This is safety 101.  You NEVER aim a gun at somebody unless you intend to kill that person.  Doesn't matter if it's loaded or not loaded.  Doesn't matter that it's been commonplace in Hollywood for 50+ years (100 years ?).

In my line of work (big chemical industry/plant type stuff) you always plan the work to never have yourself in the line of fire.  We literally call it that, and it certainly comes from weapon terms.  I have no doubt that Hollywood in general has probably been very lax about safety on the set, especially when it comes to weapons.

From the CNN (Communist News Network) link posted above:

Hutchins was killed on the film’s New Mexico set in October 2021 when a prop gun Baldwin was holding fired a live round of ammunition, striking her in the chest and wounding director Joel Souza in the shoulder.

First off, I freakin' hate the media.  Because they skew stuff so bad.  It wasn't a prop gun.  It was a real gun.  Sure, it may have meant to be used as a prop, but you can't call the real thing a prop in my book.  A prop is something that is fake.

Well you don't have to you could just rob them. Congress and corporations have been doing this for years - with out a gun

What happens when the rob-ees just say no?
Robber "Give me your money".
Rob-ee "No. I will not give you my money".
Robber " Ok, I guess I will see you later then".

On a serious note, nobody ever said you "Had to kill them" if you point a gun at them.  What I said was, you better be prepared to kill them.  Because once the gun comes out and you fail to pull the trigger your chances of living get much lower.  So if your having a confrontation with somebody and you draw down on them, what the f are you gonna do when they draw down back on you or try to wrestle your gun away from you?  The key thing being don't pull your weapon unless you absolutely have to, and if you do be prepared to kill.

Also, I just want to state that I'm not really much of an expert on guns and especially pistols.  I don't have a pistol, I don't carry, and I generally just use my guns for hunting and shooting practice.

I treat my guns with respect, never aim at anybody, and always act as if they're loaded and ready to fire.

There are people I know who carry EVERYWHERE they go, whether it's allowed or not.  I can't imagine living in a world where I was that scared of everything, but again if you decide to draw down on somebody you don't know be prepared to have them draw back.

Which brings up another point.  Wouldn't this be on film or video somewhere?  Assuming they were filming, and not rehearsing.  I can't imagine needed to rehearse and being in full costume and firing a live weapon.

I could also imagine the film/video getting erased immediately.
