This graphic is part of the lie that is being propogated by the media and the gov't.  Notice where it says "Block 2" on mass to the moon?  Block 2 is years away from flying, probably at least 5 or more.  Block 1 is where we're at through at least Artemis III, and probably all the way through Artemis VIII.

Block 1 is about 50K lbs to the moon.

Is that because the rocket mass is higher than Saturn V?  That would make it the "largest rocket ever" even if it's less capable.
To tell you the truth I'm not entirely sure.  I've read different things, and the answers seem inconsistent.  The core stage of SLS uses solid rocket boosters, which give it a leg up on the thrust, but also add some weight.  The Apollo CSM had a much more powerful engine because when it was first designed there was some thought that they were going to need a big engine to lift off the moon (before the LM was finalized).

F-14 Tomcat, the F-15 is the Eagle.  I don't know of a Soviet plane that attempted to copy the former.
Ya one of those got my wires crossed  :sorry:

If the thrust is higher, so is payload unless the empty weight is higher.  Either way, this discussion is pretty disappointing, to me.  This thing is basically an uprated space shuttle that is not reusable.

It was designed by politicians not real rocket scientists.  Real rocket scientists wanted to put a propellant depot in space, use re-usable rockets, modern engines, you know, the things that would drive costs down.  The politicians had no desire to drive down the costs, they only wanted money for their districts.  So they built a rocket with no clear goal in mind (remember the "asteroid redicrect mission?), just keep the space shuttle economy going by re-using space shuttle hardware.  Except the SS was re-usable, except for the tank.

Ukraine said Monday that its forces launched a military offensive in multiple directions in the south.
It said an offensive push broke through some front-line Russian defenses near the occupied city Kherson.
The move possibly signals the start of a long-awaited Ukrainian counteroffensive.
Ukraine says its forces have launched a major military offensive against Russian positions in multiple directions in the country's southern region on Monday, possibly signaling the start of a long-anticipated counteroffensive.

"The Armed Forces of Ukraine have breached the occupiers' first line of defense near Kherson," Ukraine's strategic communications center, part of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, said in a statement. "They believe that Ukraine has a real chance to get back its occupied territories, especially considering the very successful use of Western weapons by the Ukrainian army."

The number of container ships headed for the California ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach -- a traffic jam that once symbolized American consumer vigor during the pandemic -- declined to the lowest level since the bottleneck started to build two years ago.

Eight vessels were in the official queue as of late Monday, according to data from the Marine Exchange of Southern California & Vessel Traffic Service Los Angeles and Long Beach. That’s an all-time low, officials said in a statement, down from a record of 109 set in January and about 40 lined up a year ago.

Live Oak does entirely European styles, so they always identify the style by its place of origin.
