Tell us about your visits to Europe.
Well I keep being told that their good ideas won't work here, so it must be bad.

One thing I do like in Europe is their zoning laws keep development from spreading like kudzu.  This has a downside of course.

But it keeps the place looking nice for the most part.  I noticed driving to Asheville how many scenic vistas are now marred with crappy "development".  Another thing I like about Europe is that under 40% of their HS grads go to college, versus nearly 70% here.  And their college coursework is highly focused on their degree area, they don't have chem majors required to take history and English.

That's Rome.

I do like their educational models, and the food.

I think overall rural Europe is more scenic than the US.  They keep the countryside largely free of strip malls and junk yards and "development".

And some of their cities are really nice as well, though not so much in France.  I didn't see a bad side of Lyon but there likely is one.

Florence is clean and free from Graffiti in key spots.

Venice is not free in many spots. Of course that is a different country, it seems.

Italy as a whole is mostly beautiful.

Amsterdam is very clean. Barcelona and Lisbon too. Madrid is not.

I think the zoning boards in most US areas is dominated by developers, probably indirectly, so they get almost rubber stamp approvals for strip malls and the like.

Midtown has a review process which is not mandatory but seems to be respected by developers and it really helps a lot, I think, I can see evidence of their workings and influence on projects.

If you like that, then you should try this-- it's the best Belgian-style witbier on the planet (yes, better than Hoegaarden which was the original inspiration for the modern version of the style).

Not quite, but close.

In my many decades of work, I've noticed a whole lot of corruption.

I don't ever fruit the beer.

But some natives in Belgium and Germany do.

Trump wanted a moon landing in 2024 for his second term. Of course he didn’t get there so that’s out the window.

The SLS rocket is a joke of course.  It’s 5 years behind, actually 6. It was spec’d out by the senate to keep industry in their districts busy. It basically uses space shuttle legacy hardware.  The main engines are literally the same ones used by the shuttle except that they’re not being reused. The side boosters are evolved from ge shuttle. It will cost 2 billion dollars to launch each one and they won’t have enough money or rockets to launch more than 1 per year.

The real thing to watch for in Artemis is the HLS, or human landing system. Space X is developing what they call Starship / Heavy Booster which is a fully reusable system that is more powerful than a Saturn V. It’s much bigger than the SLS rocket in fact.

Starship will be boosted into space by Super heavy. SH will return to its launch pad, literally landing from the same pad that it launched from. It will then be refueled and another version of starship that is basically a giant gas tank will be fitted to it. It will relaunch, the fuel depot will dock with the starship and top off its fuel.

Now a refueled SS will head to the moon, where it will dock with the Orion capsule that is basically 1.5 times the size of the Apollo capsule. SS will dwarf Orion, like 20 times bigger. SS will take 4 people down to the moon.  It will then bring them back to Orion where they will then return to the earth.

NASA picked Space X for this over some legacy space contractors. There were a lot of mad Congressmen and women. The thing is, everybody knows that SX can do the job for the whole mission. They can launch, land, and return the astronauts back to the earth, and since SS/SH is fully reusable they can do it for millions, not billions. Like literally billions of dollars cheaper. A lot of smart people think that NASA will only launch SLS ( senate launch system) once or twice.
