My point really is that I think "the bleeding" was already stopped.  Congress hasn't done much thus far anyway, aside from the two bills I mentioned (one of which was unneeded and harmful, but it's a done deal).  And even a Republican Congress and President doesn't get much of consequence done either, in my experience, aside from some appointments.

But as I stated, I have little faith in either party.  They talk big and then do little.

American Shale Drillers Set To Boost Production In July | OilPrice.com
won't do much. world price doesn't move much based on US production because we use a f**k ton and don't really export much.

US/UK/EU/Australia/South Korea/Japan and all the "west"/US aligned puppet states need to end their economic warfare on Russia and lift every single sanction. US gov't needs to knock this robbing the tax dollars of it's own people merely to give massive corporate welfare checks to Raytheon & Friends via funding a proxy war bullsh*t off and allow the war in Ukraine to end and the world needs to get on with life. And then Biden needs to go back to Saudi Arabia a few more times and try to repair all the damage he's done to that relationship and promptly get on all fours and remove those dentures and suck some Saudi crown prince c**k. Prices will start to fall back to earth almost immediately if these things happen.

NYT 1999: Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending (freerepublic.com)

Should be able to read it here.
just read it, it's not really THE cause. played a part...sure. but those other factors mentioned before were much more significant.

It could do some good but it won't because they will point to the world market and just keep taking record profits.

A gas station less than a mile away from two others in sewer city is 30 cents cheaper per gallon.

I'd be shocked if the other two couldn't make a very nice profit at 30 cents cheaper

Pretty sure the place I buy gas @ 4.59/gallon is not losing money

none of them make their money selling gas. it's literally peanuts. they make it all on the tobacco, alcohol, and other bullsh*t they sell inside the store.

Whatever place sells the gas cheapest is going to get tons of that business. That's why Wawa typically sells gas cheaper than anyone I know of down this way. And their gas stations are ass slammed busy 24/7 and the business they do inside their stores is flat out insane.

Rust Belt been dying....all COVID and the Democrats who continue to run those states/cities into the ground have done is accelerated the death.

The growth in this country is all in the south/southwest states that are mostly red, business friendly, and have low taxes and less regulation.

Great for Texas, was hoping they'd come to Florida. There is a sh*t ton of cheap ass land in Northern and Central Florida in the center of the state between the coasts and it's a state with a kick ass governor and state legislature that is extremely business friendly.

The cost of domestic airfare has increased "significantly" over the course of 2022, rising 47% since January, according to recent Adobe Analytics data.

_________________________________________________ ______________________

we could possibly expect a 50% increase in prices because of coming out of COVID and some other factors

Gasoline and diesel jumping 100% is just plain greed and gouging.

_________________________________________________ ______________________

but the real bad news is coming.............

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — As inflation causes prices to rise and supply chain shortages make products harder to find, another item can be added to the list: Tampons.

Not only are the products harder to find on shelves, but Bloomberg found that the cost of pads is up 8.3% and the cost of tampons is up 9.8%. Procter & Gamble, the maker of Tampax and Always, is expecting prices on period products to rise even more in July due to supply chain issues.

While the current oil crisis may appear separate from the growing tampon shortage, University of South Dakota business professor Tom Martin said they may not be as isolated as they appear.

“They’re not unrelated because our world, our cultures, run off of petroleum,” Martin said. “Whether it’s the fuel that’s moving products or so many things contain plastic and where does plastic come from? Petroleum.”

Martin added that the supply chain crisis can’t be narrowed down to just one issue.

“People didn’t realize how complex a supply chain was, until it didn’t work,” Martin said.

some operators buy gas from their suppliers at way better prices than others, and then some giant ones like Wawa probably not only buy gas way cheaper because they buy so much- they aggressively price it to get people in the doors buying sandwiches, tobacco, donuts, coffee, etc., etc..

agrees with my question

if the smart move is to sell gas at no profit to get folks to come inside to purchase the high profit items, why charge 30 cents per gallon more?

I worked at a full service gas station in 1980.  Night shift foreman.  Sold around 3,000 gallons per shift, 2 shifts.  Cheapest gas, cheapest cigarettes in Sewer City,  cashed payroll checks and had credit.  could charge all purchases and pay at the end of the month.

1980, highest gas prices in history, went over 99 cents a gallon for the first time ever.

cigarettes were 60 cents a pack, $7.50 per carton

inflation was at an all-time high

I made $3.15/hour as the shift foreman.

no employee discount on any products or services

life was good, decided to go to college in Lincoln

at that time graduating engineers were making around $30,000/year

a Porche 911 was about $30,000
