Not sure what his unit was firing. Maybe 75s but that's just a straight guess. I haven't looked at that DD214 since right after he died, and that's been a long time.

Glad they came home
Agreed!
screw on the proximity fuse
The Proximity Fuse or VT Fuse (stood for Variable Time) developed by the Allies during WWII is undoubtedly the most underappreciated technological advance of the whole war.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — The United States won a legal battle on Tuesday to seize a Russian-owned superyacht in Fiji and wasted no time in taking command of the $325 million vessel and sailing it away from the South Pacific nation.

The court ruling represented a significant victory for the U.S. as it encounters obstacles in its attempts to seize the assets of Russian oligarchs around the world. While those efforts are welcomed by many who oppose the war in Ukraine, some actions have tested the limits of American jurisdiction abroad.

In Fiji, the nation’s Supreme Court lifted a stay order which had prevented the U.S. from seizing the superyacht Amadea.

Chief Justice Kamal Kumar ruled that based on the evidence, the chances of defense lawyers mounting an appeal that the top court would hear were “nil to very slim.”

Kumar said he accepted arguments that keeping the superyacht berthed in Fiji at Lautoka harbor was “costing the Fijian government dearly.”

What's everyone doing for Father's Day? I know.. Hallmark holiday and all that, but still.

We'll probably go boating, go see a band at our local haunt and then come home to a bone-in ribeye.

just saw Top Gun Maverick recently....it was an excellent movie. No liberal Hollywood bullsh*t or messaging/themes or LGBTQTIAAAFD+ bullsh*t....just good ole' fashioned block buster action entertainment. Definitely one of the best sequels ever made and imo- MUCH better film than the first movie.

And it's absolutely crushing the world wide box office despite being banned in China over Maverick's jacket having a Taiwanese flag on the back. Chinese censors told the film makers to remove it- and in an epic and rare move- a Hollywood studio told China to f**k off and we're not removing shit- so China banned the film. Good for the film makers/producers/studios....and seriously....f**k China. About god damn time one American company/entity grew a pair of f***king balls and told China to suck on a fat one and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

Tom Cruise really is just the god damn man, and man do I wish I owned a fighter jet. That looks like so much fun lol.

Not a huge surprise here.

Canada handgun sales soar after Trudeau proposes freeze (france24.com)
there isn't a bigger turd "leader" in the West than that sorry sack of shit in Canada. I've always disliked Canada and thought it was a pointless and useless country that shouldn't exist, this dude just makes me dislike it even more.

I've disliked Canada way before him. I used to live 5 mins away from Canada.....Canada sucks. And it's pointless. I have no use for it. Why does it even exist? Plus they keep sending us shitty asswipe lesbians who make awful music....like Justin Bieber.

Standard tradition.

Mom calls, reminds me to call dad. Call dad, dad says we don't celebrate that made up holiday, but that they're doing something relaxing that he wants to do.

both my daughters flying into Florida her from Michigan.  Very happy! 😊

Probably lounge around the pool, go for a boat ride, out for a dinner or two and watch some U.S. Open!
