The Pratt & Whitney J58-P4 engine that powered the SR-71 was a considerable innovation of their era; each one could produce 32,500 lbf (145 kN) of static thrust. The J58 was most efficient around Mach 3.2, the Blackbird’s typical cruising speed. A unique hybrid, the engine can be thought of as a turbojet inside a ramjet. Linda Sheffield Miller

Nearly all the gas stations are locally owned and they determine the price they will charge.  Now that will reflect the replacement cost of the gas they are currently pumping of course, and the local markets.
and most gas stations don't even make much on their gas. maybe a couple cents profit per gallon. they make all their money selling you shit.

that's why gas stations like Wawa freaking kill it. that place makes so much money, it's insane. every single one all up and down 95 in Florida is packed 24/7, no matter where or what time of day.

yup, there's always a good reason the prices can't come down as fast as they went up

Honestly, if I was a foreign leader, I'd be eager to talk to Trump...because I could take advantage of him.  His wants are obvious.  He lacks depth.
Yeah, I'd take advantage of him every chance I got.
yeah, where is the evidence for that? oh that's right, it doesn't exist. Trump was able to get Saudis to comply in 2018 to pump baby pump to drive prices down and in 2020 to make record cuts to bring supply down and stabilize prices. President Shits-his-Diapers can't even get them on the phone and has them cozying up to Xi and China.

I'd say the opposite is actually true. Biden has already proven he's on the take. He didn't get the nickname the Senator from MBNA for nothing, you know. Oh and he's also an 80 year old with dementia that shits his own pants. So there's that.

this from less than a month ago....

The Biden administration has once again put a pause on new leases and permits for federal oil and gas drilling after a judge blocked the administration from using a metric that estimates the societal cost of carbon emissions.

Earlier this month, US District Judge James Cain of the Western District of Louisiana issued an injunction preventing the Biden administration from using what's known as the "social cost of carbon" in decisions around oil and gas drilling on public land, or in rules governing fossil fuel emissions. The ruling has consequences for a range of Biden administration actions on climate change, but especially on the Interior Department's federal oil and gas leasing program.
In an appeal filed by government attorneys on Saturday night, the Biden administration argued Cain's injunction necessitated a pause on all projects where the government was using a social-cost-of-carbon analysis in its decision-making.

If you paid the equivalent of $4 for the last delivery, you pretty much need to charge that until a new delivery arrives, if the price is lower.

Biden should be meeting with Oil Company leaders to facilitate increased production but isnt because he does not want this problem to go away
all Biden would need to do is open up the oil leases

with the price of oil, the oil companies would love to increase production
leases in North Dakota were shot down and the wells are not running

It's from a Clint Eastwood movie that wasn't very good.

I agree with this

I also agree that gas prices went up quickly, gasoline that was already in the tank at your local station that was refined a few days previous and from oil that was purchased a month or so ago.

It did, this is why I advise folks to go to Costco when prices jump, they don't play this game.
