Slower than driving; more expensive than flying. Serving a market that nobody wants except 3-year-old boys who think trains are the coolest things in the world.
We already have those trains!

(that marker includes my dad, who also felt trains were highly cool. Though even then, we did a few train trips and then decided time was more valuable)

I started my job in 1980, and recall a little no name gas station near work had low lead for $1.17 per, and inflation adjusted that comes to $4.03 in today's dollars.  I was making a lot less money then obviously.

Good luck creating a loop, going across the Everglades.

If it ventures 1 inch outside of the existing "Alligator Alley" footprint, you'll never get through the environmental red tape.
It's a good thing that the engineers who designed I-75 planned for it, and also a third lane in each direction.

It's a small world for three hours?

I'd need a lot of Scotch.

Speaking on mini mouse... Actors gonna act. What a twat.

Smollett learned his fate Thursday after a judge delivered the terms of his sentence following a contentious four hours in a Chicago courtroom.

Mere minutes after being ordered into custody to begin serving 150 days in jail, the actor addressed the court one last time – despite the fact he said prior to having his sentence read that he had nothing to say.

The former "Empire" star, 39, stood up and affirmed his innocence in a passionate declaration to Cook County Judge James Linn, saying, "I'm not suicidal."

"I respect you, your honor," Smollett said as he placed his hands together in a gesture toward the bench.

"I respect your decision. Jail time? I am not suicidal. ... If anything happens to me in there I did not do it to myself!"

I would consider trains if they were nicer inside and ran predictably and were as cheap as a bus (buses are quite cheap these days, I have not riden one in many decades).  Let's say we wanted to go to Nashville, and took a train versus plane, what are the relative costs and time issues?

I don't think there is a train, so make it DC.

Bus from Atlanta, GA to Washington, D.C. | FlixBus

$40 by bus 13 hours or so.

Atlanta to Washington DC Train - Amtrak Tickets $106 | Wanderu

$132 by train, 14 hours.  I think we can spot the problem here pretty quickly ....

Average CTA Bus Driver yearly pay in the United States is approximately $56,039, which is 60% above the national average. Salary information comes from 5 data points collected directly from employees, users, and past and present job advertisements on Indeed in the past 36 months.

200 kph is 125 mph, so if they reach that speed on one segment, that segment, in the future, is planned as HSR.  That's a big if in my book.

Normal rail in the US has a 79 mph speed limit everwhere, ACELA runs at 125 in portions.
so apparently the reason they couldn't hit 125 mph is because they were operating on all existing rail track. the rail from coca to orlando is brand new- built and owned by brightline and specifically designed to hit that speed. reason they won't be going higher is because it would cost a lot more money to hit speeds of 160mph and it would only save around 4 mins picking up that extra 35 mph in speed. cocoa to orlando is too short of a distance. but the cocoa to orlando part of the train will hit 125mph.

I think a loop would be good. And also take it up to Jacksonville.

The loop would go from Miami to Naples to Tampa and to Orlando, with stops along the way, of course.

I used that line from the Miami airport to Palm Beach and it was fantastic.
it is awesome, and pretty cheap too. especially now with gas costing a fortune down here. just filled up my car today for the time in 5 days, and it was $90. and brightline is always sending free rides and giving away free shit and promo codes to try to entice riders. trains are f**king mint, brand new and beautiful and the main station in Miami is something you'd expect to see in Europe or Asia. Brand spanking new and beautiful.

Regardless, going 79 from Miami is FAR better than what you can by car from Miami, unless you're driving at 2AM. Took me 2.5 hours to get from Miami to Palm Beach, the one time I did it. The train took an hour.
yeah the traffic is brutal right now and not only that- but they are doing major work on 95 from Boca to Miami. that makes traffic worse- and not only is it season, but there are more people living down here permanently now than ever before. lot more New Yorkers and Canadians than even before, and unfortunately noticing a lot of f**king Californians.

rush hour from palm beach to miami - at least an hour and a forty five right now- realistically more like 2 plus. and it's not that far. no traffic you can make that drive in about an hr.

I'm astonished at the number of Californians moving to our side too. NY, NJ, PA, IL, Ontario.

Don't F this state up, is all I can say.
