High speed rail is really happening in Florida but it’s a private company doing it, not the state or fed govt.

Miami to Ft Lauderdale to West Palm route and vice versa has been open for about 3-4 years. Trains only go about 80mph on this route bc of the population density. All the stations are brand new and nice and the trains are as well. West Palm to Miami takes about an hr. Which shoot, takes double or triple that most of the time now during the peak traffic hours.

Stations for the Aventura Mall in Aventura and near Mizner Park in Boca Raton are approved by those cities and being built. Aventura is a rich area just north of Miami and

And the extension from West Palm Beach to Orlando is currently under construction and will be done end of this year and open in 2023. There’s a lot of empty space and not a ton of population density from WPB to Orlando - so that route will average speeds of 125mph. Next logical conclusion would be Orlando extends to Tampa and then I’d guess that’d be about it.
I think a loop would be good. And also take it up to Jacksonville.

The loop would go from Miami to Naples to Tampa and to Orlando, with stops along the way, of course.

I used that line from the Miami airport to Palm Beach and it was fantastic.

Going over 79 raises costs by a lot.  One key feature is if the lines are electrified or not, that is an advantage of course, but also costly.

Slower than driving; more expensive than flying. Serving a market that nobody wants except 3-year-old boys who think trains are the coolest things in the world.
They also want to be engineers. Train drivers, I mean.

Regardless, going 79 from Miami is FAR better than what you can by car from Miami, unless you're driving at 2AM. Took me 2.5 hours to get from Miami to Palm Beach, the one time I did it. The train took an hour.

No doubt traffic is really bad down that way.  The train option might actually make a profit, some day.

Our drive to North Port is not terrible, just long, but that is the other side.

75 is not nearly as busy as 95, that's for sure, but that is changing quickly. This area is growing like crazy now.

as great a people mover as Disney is Im a little surprised they arent involved

they have the money and the advertising would be great

not only logos on the side of the train but captive audience watching TV screens showing only Disney stuff

We don't need a bunch of suicides on the train.

Good luck creating a loop, going across the Everglades.

If it ventures 1 inch outside of the existing "Alligator Alley" footprint, you'll never get through the environmental red tape.

it would be free and not cost the taxpayers anything

so instead of trying to be cute just try thinking outside the box if you can

I'd honestly think they'd rather pay than expose themselves to an hour-long infomercial for Disney.
