This is a minor personal note, but I was really looking forward to seeing St. Petersburg in May, I had read a good bit about it.  This is trivial in the overall scope of things of course.  It would been the highlight of the cruise.  I had some inkling of visiting Moscow someday, if I do, it will be rather far in the future I suspect.

Every day this struggle lasts puts Putin in a more desperate position.  I am hoping somehow the powers that be will replace him, I don't expect that, but they much be getting annoyed.
I've always wanted to visit St. Petersburg and Moscow. Like you, doesn't look like it'll be any time soon now.

China's probably surprised that Putin has been stupid enough to do this to himself, but they will most certainly take advantage of it.
China has been surprised by it's own stupidity just as much,if the west doesn't bring some jobs back after what just happened to the economy then the Reds can start licking their chops

Jews make the best Nazis.

Some folks think Hitler was part Jewish, he probably wasn't.  Shicklgruber.
Watched a segment yrs back and some elite SS units went into his home town in Austria and removed the town/church records pertaining to his birth and removed the family headstones. They were coving something up - Der Fuhrer of the Reich wasn't the pure Aryan he was selling himself as

Russia should have no say in what Ukraine does as long as Ukraine doesnt pose a threat to them and nobody in their right mind sees Ukraine as a threat to Russia
Well it is PUTIN so you just answered your own inquiry

Her announcement came on the same day that several European leaders announced plans to provide military equipment to Ukraine. Denmark's prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, said her country would send 2,700 anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, while Sweden's minister for foreign affairs announced a shipment of 5,000 anti-tank weapons, 5,000 helmets, 5,000 body shields and 135,000 field rations.
That's just great, and assuming the Russians don't intercept them upon arrival who's going to set up training. They're not Red Riders or we could send Ralphie

We already shipped antitank weapons to Ukraine.  The more modern ones are "fairly simple".  My GUESS is they route the gear through Poland, on the ground, I think that area has not had fighting as yet.  The Russians could of course cut that supply route with some effort.

"Huge chunks" has now shrunk to "not insignificant".  Perhaps a plurality is in the offing, maybe even someday minority, or perhaps even mostly in eastern Ukraine some view him as a hero.
well, I probably should've worded it better. I don't know the exact polling on who doesn't and does celebrate him- but the guy was literally an official national hero of Ukraine - and the President who was overthrown in 2014 is the one who revoked the guys status as a national hero. And I've never claimed this to be a major problem. Just that- it's a problem. And btw the government that is in power right now was naming streets after him in 2014 and has even declared his birthday a national holiday in 2019. NOT a good thing/look/idea. He's mostly viewed as a hero in Western Ukraine (where Bandera is from) - and  Lviv (western ukraine) where Bandera is from has renamed buildings, streets, built statues, and monuments to drum roll.......a Nazi collaborator. Ukraine having a national holiday for a nazi collaborator and naming streets after him is undoubtedly bad. That is definitely a problem, but not a major one. And the line about eastern ukraine doesn't make much sense to me- as it's the neo-nazi militias (like Azov Battalion) that have been fighting the separatists in eastern ukraine. Bandera is viewed as a villain in Eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine's major neo-nazi problem was that during the coup of 2014 and the interim gov't that followed literal neo-nazi's like Andriy Parubiy and Oleh Tyahnybok play pivotal roles and were both openly embraced by the US/West- that the current gov't funding neo-nazi childrens programs like they did with C14, and oh yeah the current gov't incorporating neo-nazi militias into it's armed forces like they did with the Azov Battalion and providing them political cover. And the US has been exacerbating that problem by pouring funds, arms, and training into the hands of neo-nazi groups.

The EU now is in a proxy war with Russia via  Ukraine, as are we, much as the Soviets supplied the North Vietnamese back in the day, etc. etc.  The Russians may try and severe the land supply routes from Poland, Moldova is already under Putin's control in effect.  We're not going to be flying stuff in.  Russians can easily intercept cargo ships headed to Odessa.  This could be how "we" get into it.

We invaded Germany in WW Two, and Japan as well, not to mention France, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Morrocco, ....

A nice thing about those invasions is we asked only for some space to bury our dead.
