Tone deaf much?

John Kerry fears Russia-Ukraine war will distract from climate change | Fox News
This is an interesting piece of content milling. You grab the interview, take a wonky part, make it a headline. The lead quote is literally:

"I'm concerned about Ukraine because of the people of Ukraine and because of the principles that are at risk, in terms of international law and trying to change boundaries of international law by force," Kerry, the U.S. special presidential envoy for climate, said in an interview on BBC Arabic, MEMRI reported Wednesday. "I thought we lived in a world that had said no to that kind of activity. And I hope diplomacy will win."

The messaging after, the guy whose job is about climate focusing on climate, is not particularly well timed, but it also doesn't matter. In just about 99.999999 percent of occasions, you, me, and everyone else doesn't care what the "climate czar" thinks. We lament "the media" ginning up outrage, and then are like "this thing 'the media' has ginned up outrages me." It's only a story to use because a partisan outlet slapped a headline on it.

On the plus side, if that's the bar for angst, we got a whopper of tone deafness from a far more important source.

Not really. But when a media outlet pretends he does, it's good for web traffic.

I can't find an adequate "shaking my damn head" emoji.

He was hawking his candidacy in like '04-'05 and was heaping praise on Buckeyes Football. He crossed the state line using the exact same line hawking Buckeyes football forgetting he was in Michigan. Then he was like err,uh,um....."how bout them Wolverines" One almost cringed watching it - IDIOT

Sigh.  Heady stuff.  A lot of innocent folks are going to die.
yeah, it's beyond terrible. war is always an act of aggression unless done in self-defense. Russia has no justification for this. None.

US has played a role in relations completely deteriorating with Russia and events leading to this point however. Things do not just happen in a vacuum. There is no excusing Putin's actions- which are aggressive, illegal, and an affront to international law and human right. But what kinda pisses me off is the arrogance of a DC elite who for the last 25 years thought they could try to pick Ukraine off from Russia's sphere of influence- and pull them into the US/EU/NATO orbit and into our sphere of influence- and it never registered to them that- hey Russia might not like that and they might do something about that. And that something was never going to be us paying any sort of real price- it'd be the Ukrainian people paying the price. It was just pure arrogance on the part of a few previous US administrations and a foreign policy elite who think what we can do whatever we want around the world whenever we want.

Unless we were absolutely willing to go to go to war with Russia over Ukraine- there was no reason to do some of the things we've done in Ukraine from 1992 to 2014. It's like we've pumped Ukraine's heads up since 2014 and made them believe we'd actually have their backs and go to war for them and protect them- when in reality- we do not really have their backs and won't go to war for them. It's like they were getting along with the bully they sat to next to in class OK and then we pumped their heads up saying- hey stand up to that jerkoff- follow us now F him- when we don't go to the same school and live 20 towns away- then when they are feeling themselves because of us and stand up to the bully and the bully starts f**king with them and then starts whooping their ass- we don't really do anything to help. We should have just stayed the f out of the affairs of Ukraine completely.

ha! have to love these sort of hypocritical jerkoffs.

https://nypost.com/2021/08/11/john-kerrys-jet-emitted-estimated-30-times-more-carbon-in-2021-than-average-vehicle/

Leonardo DiCaprio is another one. Even just made a shitty movie about climate change on Netflix. By the way, I have still yet to see a great movie Netflix has made. They just have unlimited money to throw at garbage apparently. Anywhoo, that's another jerkoff who cries and moans and bitches about climate change and then goes and travels on private jets all over the world and charters super yachts filled with models to party and cruise all over the world. It's like....shut the f**k up unless you practice what you preach you god damn hypocrite. Nothing but virtual signaling and trying to make the world think you're such a good person because you care so much about climate change.

Loved that video of that guy who ripped everyone at Davos at the World Economic Forum about how all those billionaire assholes cry about climate change and fixing the world but then they all fly in on 1,600 private jets for every WEF conference.

That's a great one. I really like The Last Kingdom as well. Good show. That was a BBC/Netflix collaboration. Their Witcher show is pretty good too. First season was OK, but I felt like it got really good in the second season. Netflix has some really good shows.

That Tinder Swindler documentary they just made was fantastic. That guy is a total piece of shit but my god what a genius.

i sincerely hope the sanctions will have serious effects.  I hope that the US, and all other nations of the world, enact them to the fullest extent that we can.

At this point more sanctions are like grounding your kid who is already grounded. Putin's thug empire has lived with sanctions for two decades and has already priced in their impact. And we're at the point where further sanctions ends up hurting NATO nations as well, which is why Germany and Italy are voicing their intent to veto sanctions to remove Russia from the SWIFT financing system.

The sanctions ship has LONG sailed.

This might be the best bet to a quick ending to violent Russian occupation:

Hopefully by Monday Russia's invasion is concluding their big show of force (with limited civilian casualties, one can pray) all to put Ukraine in no position to negotiate when it comes to Putin demanding an official neutral status from Ukraine and no furthering of a potential NATO membership from Ukraine (as they began in November 2020 when Ukraine joined NATO's partnership program), all with the Russian goal of ensuring NO western weapons positioned within Ukrainian borders.
