This is where I'm at. I have a few "friends" who won't associate with unvaxed people. Which is why I will not divulge my status to them. I've got way too many better friends anyway, so I don't need to see them anymore. Winning is good.

Anyway, I no longer care if people get vaccinated or not.
Got vaxed in January because most business/jobs are asking for it not because I feel I'm so much safer. Cindy hasn't but still follows protocals.Still wipes down inside the car, handles, wears masks - keeps distance, washes hands.Slobs sure I keep my distance but this whole bullshit has hurt this country considerably.Im not sure if the vaxed have gotten lax or just don't GAF anymore but there are definately more hypocrites amongst them because they think they know.

They just want to feel elite.  I've got your elite right here, pal.

There's no need to drag Michigan into this

You keep saying this. Can you provide a cite?

I ask because I live in California, arguably one of the strictest states when it comes to COVID restrictions. And anecdotally, restaurants seem to be doing fine here. I can count a few closures here and there, but 60%--even 60% of independents--doesn't jive with what I see on the ground.
Found it. The data says that 60% of businesses that "closed" for the pandemic didn't reopen. But it appears closed is a more narrow term, and we're talking about businesses overall. And the data was from Summer of 2020.

Digging into the data, it looks like Sandwich shops, Burger places and breakfast/brunch places saw overall closure rates of 5.5 to 5.7 percent between March 1 2020 and end of Summer 2020. Everything else listed was under 4. It's also a little annoying because they don't have any year over year data, so we don't know any baseline rate of those closures.

Several of my favorite iconic longtime restaurants in Austin closed, and it sucked.  But I'd estimate at least 90% reopened and survived.
My sink is still open

Yup.  Now we'll just have to see how Ukraine reacts.  I'm gonna go ahead and predict, it won't go over smoothly.

And then there's this...

same blueprint used to take georgia. fund and support a rebellion in region, when they get a stronghold, "recognize" them as independent state, send "peacekeeping" troops in, and when troops from occupied country respond with force, use it as excuse to invade further and annex as much as possible.

Yup the fabricated casus belli was 100% predictable, since it's already been done.

I guess the Ukrainian moms didn't get the news from their president that everything's fine.  Seems like actual Ukrainians are pretty worried.  And they should be, Russia has now declared war on them and is in the middle of an invasion.

Remember last week when Putin lied and said they were withdrawing, and yet the only movements made by Russian troops were into even more aggressive attack postures?  Yeah...

yeah, so apparently I am wrong. your post made me look into this further.

Yelp was saying that 60% of restaurants that closed during covid - were gone forever. Turns out that was Yelp projecting that and not actual data.

I stand corrected, as The Real Deal (a great website btw) reported last year the actual number was 14% per the National Restaurant Association. https://therealdeal.com/2021/05/19/only-14-of-restaurants-closed-permanently-because-of-pandemic/

Another reason not to use Yelp. Lol.

The vaccines will reduce transmission.  Nothing will stop it.  Nobody ever claimed it would.
this is patently false. plenty were claiming this.

welp, russian has invaded ukraine... again, i guess. or officially? i don't know. so much for just posturing.
yeah it's a weird thing...because Ukraine claims those regions as part of their territory but they've been self-ruled and have not been controlled by or a part of Ukraine since they broke away.
