^ this is the same douchebag that wore black face half a dozen times at parties and praised the CCP and said he admired that gov't/country more than any in the world.

He easily is one of the most dislikable people in the world with one of the most punchable faces ever.

yeah, it's pretty much par for the course. wash, rinse, repeat. What is hysterical is the US has a trend of previously backing most of these boogeyman to the hilt- then they wind up killing them years later. Almost every name you mentioned - the US backed at one point in time before they killed them lol.
I just boggles the mind, grow up thinking you do the right thing it somehow comes back BZZZZT!!! Wrong I can see why the younger generations seemingly are either indifferent or Just don't G.A.F.,don't blame them
Suburbia:Where they tear out the trees & then name streets after them.

CIA calls this blowback- unintended consequences that result as part of US meddling. It's happened time and time again, way too many times to count. Not sure US ever even thinks that far ahead- they just use who they can when they can to their advantage at the moment- they propped up monsters like Saddam and Bin Laden when convenient (knowing full well these guys were complete murderous psycho scumbags whilst backing them) and then once those relationships go south and bite us in the ass or are not useful anymore- time to kill.

Why NATO Has Become a Flash Point With Russia in Ukraine | Council on Foreign Relations (cfr.org)

Some useful background in my view, without the hyperbole and hysteria.

I understand what Putin claims to want, and why he would want that.  He may get some portion of it in negotiation, and the military show of force is related to that.

Yes what Putin claims to want is obvious.

What he actually wants perhaps not so obvious.

The escalation and build-up is calculated and intentional.  If he's presenting as a "credible threat" then he should expect to be treated as one.

I am fairly sure Putin dreams about having Ukraine being like Byelorus is today, subservient, and eventually part of a new "Warsaw Pact".  I think he knows the "Stans" are gone.  Georgia probably not.  If he could reassmble a portion of the USSR to include Ukraine and Byelorus and maybe Georgia, he's have quite a chunk.

I think something rather dramatic has to happen in Ukraine in a couple of weeks or the boy who cried wolf will start to seem relevant.  The public will tire of the story.

I don't see any value for Putin in claiming Georgia. It's a tiny little place with only two small useful ports on the Black Sea. Seems to me that it would not benefit Putin one bit, and would probably end up costing more money to prop up than it's worth.

well you do realize that NATO expansion (pushed by the US- which by the way the Bush II administration were trying to push NATO to make Ukraine immediate full fledged members in '08- but the rest of Western Europe wisely pushed back- offering instead a public guarantee of future Ukrainian membership) and the US backing a successful far-right coup in 2014 has played a role in leading us to this point, right? The US backed coup (of a democratically elected gov't I might add) in 2014 was the flashpoint which triggered Russia into taking Crimea and ensuring Russia had control of Sevastopol naval base, which is maybe the most important naval base they had to that countries national interests/national security. US's continual funding/arming training of neo-nazi militias in Ukraine probably isn't helping matters much either.

Putin is a threat to his own population and the small piss ant poor countries near him that he wishes Russia continue to maintain in their sphere of influence, but not really much else. As usual, US is engaging in astounding levels of hypocrisy here...Monroe Doctrine, anyone? Linky.
Just think, if that jerk-off Khrushchev never gave Crimea to Ukraine in the mid 1950s we probably wouldn't be where we are today. Russia wouldn't have invaded Crimea to take the Sevastopol naval base- they'd still own it and we probably wouldn't be in the situation we are at now.

they've been crying wolf for months on this. and decades literally - if you've been paying attention to every other war.
