I like anything from the Med that I can think of except seiche.

We stayed in Marseille four nights and found a Carrefour nearby that had choice of pastry, coffee, and fresh orange juice for 2 euros, it was a steal.

Carrefour is akin to our Target, means crossroads.

I have the solution to Starbucks.

I bought a Bunn.
I grew up in a house where people ground and poured their own coffee. It didn’t seem worlds harder than making a tuna sandwich. You just had to buy a little gear.

Granted, years before my birth, said family members also took a personal finance course that just raked people over how much they spent on coffee. And yet, the habit did not cease. (I don’t drink the stuff, but whatever. It’s important proof that the human body can be taught to consume almost anything)

I didn't say eggs are the only breakfast food...but the egg industry relies on "breakfast food" being a thing.
Imagine people eating lunch and dinner food for breakfast every day.  You've cut egg usage down probably 99%+.  All eggs would be used for is ingredients in baking and a throw-in for fried rice.

Bacon has done a good job worming its way into salads and burgers.  They're at least being proactive.  But if "breakfast food" goes away, the egg industry is fukt.  Hence, they have the largest incentive to keep it going.  Which is why that have lobbyists.  Which is why you guys make fun of me.
You think that's why?

shit...

I had potstickers for breakfast this morning.

I prefer reading personally if a person has a point to make.  I have never listened to any of these podcast things, probably a reflection of my ancienity.
Me too. I know a lot of people learn better through listening or watching video, but I'm a reader.

It's too easy for me to just tune out of audio. And I don't like video unless it's something like YouTube videos showing me how to do a project or perform a task, where actually seeing it is helpful.

this is hilarious. having said that, I hate Starbucks, always have, this is nothing new as their entire business model from day one was to price gouge the sh*t out of their customers. their margins have to be stupid high- they are like the Apple of coffee. both these companies mottos have to be: "hey, how can we rape our customers more" - but alas....like a complete dumbass I still find myself going to Starbucks and also buying Apple products. There just isn't any competition for Starbucks- they have a monopoly and can charge whatever the f**k they want. sure, in your own town or area you might know some great little coffee spots or cafes - but if you travel a lot or drive a lot - where you going to go? Dunkin Donuts is trash. I wish illy's had cafe's all over the US - I'd go there over Starbucks 10/10 when I want espresso & a croissant in a pinch.
Starbucks drip coffee is usually bad. It's over-roasted and completely acrid. I'd believe they do this intentionally in order to get people to buy $5 coffee drinks instead, but I've actually had good drip coffee there on occasion, so it's not even consistent.

Dunkin has been regularly rated highly for their coffee. I'm not a donut guy so I don't regularly go there, but their coffee is good.

McDonald's coffee is actually excellent. I'll take that over Starbucks any day, and they're everywhere.

I drove by a Starbucks every day on the way to work and the line for takeout would be 5-6-7-8 cars deep.  They could have made coffee at home in the same time period.  I never understood that.  We had coffee at work of course fairly cheap and OK.

I had my own coffee maker, which I was not supposed to have apparently.  I'd get written up for a safety violation once a year or so but nothing came of it.  This was after we went to "open offices", which meant in my case the door was removed from the hinges and stored somewhere.  It decreased security of course, and they could have just told us to prop our door open when in the office, but no.

The VPs and directors had completely open offices, but also a small conference room, with a door, and they all set those up as their office and stayed in there nearly all day.

Maybe the coffee lobby is more powerful than the egg lobby.

You're all going to make fun of me for it, but here I am at 8:20 AM, wanting to go out for something to eat, and my options are arbitrarily limited, due to "breakfast food" being a thing.
Can I get a pizza?  No.

A burger?  No, only at Burger King.

Could I get a nice chicken caesar salad?  No.
Chinese?  No.

Yes, I could make these things, but there's no good reason I can't go out and get them besides the egg lobby and the tradition of "breakfast food."

It's a minor thing, but it is a thing.  And it's stupid.
We limit our options based on the time of day.  It's idiocy.
Sure, you could get Chinese. They have their own breakfast foods, like congee. Ya know, the rice lobby being big over there and all :57:

Chinese and pizza places near me open at 10 or 11.

I need to try this place sometime, it's walkable.  And tasty.

Sonic, a fast food chain predominant through Texas and other places south, has a full menu all day. You can even order breakfast in the evening, or burgers at 8 am.

Didn't know that.
Yes, 847, I could go to a freakin' Dennys' and get a steak.  But I might not.

I never got into Sonic.  It's ben around where I've lived, both in FL and AZ, but I've probably ever eaten there once or twice.  I don't have anything against it, I just never got into it.

Anyway, I got a whopper meal at 8:30 and it was fine.  Would've rather had chicken or chinese, but I live in a place held slave to the idea of "breakfast food."  'Murica.
