Elected politicians have precious little to do with inflation, they just take credit and lie about that.

They have a modest amount to do with crime reduction, though even that link is weak at best (they are good at spending up to make people feel like crime is down)

Most pols have little or nothing to do with the border. But many will act like they do, as telling people what they want is key to getting elected.

But those do make good slogans, that's for sure.

here you go bay area. This article proves you both wrong and right.

here’s a person who sounds like a staunch Republican, after being a very left leaning liberal up to this point. She has changed her tune and almost everything as she was a hard lockdown, mandate, mask governor and get the kids out of the schools.  She is talking about unity and collaboration whereas before that was the opposite of her approach.  She is taking credit for a budget surplus which obviously came from government stimulus money.

Is she changing her tune because she’s learned something? Or is she just running as far away from a very unpopular president who has very unpopular policies?

She's running for reelection.  She is promising this and that.  That doesn't mean she can implement this and that.  But it sounds good, she thinks.

Nice slogans though.

So true.  That’s the part where Bay Area badger is correct.
But her impact on businesses in that state and people leaving that state, as well as unemployment was very direct and obvious, and it wasn’t good

I think folks were leaving Michigan in numbers before her, and after she's gone that will continue.  Maybe she had some slight impact on rates, I don't know.

Well having live there for my whole adult life until 2016, and having all of my friends, family, and former business associates there, I can assure you that failing businesses due to strict lockdowns and unpopular governance has led to large numbers of people either leaving that state or planning to meet that state. Ask MDot.  He is very well connected in Michigan as well.

Has the rate increased?  That's my point.

Steady growth, consistently for many years. Now three years of decline.

fwiw, the #'s i posted were the burger only, not the meal, and the % would hold either way.

and according to this, average price in us is $5.17. https://mc-menu.com/mcdonalds-menu-prices/61-big-mac.html
Those are local prices here in FL.

Who gets the burger only?

Nobody.

In two years, those meals will be $15.00 - unless the whole system goes robotic.

Robots don't make $15/hour.

You live in downtown Atlanta, dude... They HAVE to pay that because nobody will work there for less, because it's downtown Atlanta and you need more to live. It's the market at work.

Looking at a random Georgia map, let's pick the town of Godfrey, GA. I'll bet that there's a lot more MW or just above workers there, because the cost of living is lower and so working for less is worth it.
Well, I don't live in downtown ATL.

All the joints near here are offering $15 and up, with tuition and other benefits.

More along the lines that once you get a reputation for corporate welfare, everyone's got their hands out. And you can hurt yourself.

That doesn't mean that high-value locations don't do it... They do. Big cities, as we covered in this thread, are MORE than happy to open their pocketbooks to build stadiums for billionaires because they fear them leaving. And big cities engage in garden-variety corporate welfare too.

But NYC is the financial center of the universe. Why should they lower themselves by kowtowing to Amazon?
For now, it is.

So this woman went to school for and had to get certified for a job that paid a hair over $29k a year in not only SOCal, but a pretty affluent part of So-Cal?

Something isn't totally adding up here. Either that, or your wife's office kinda deserved to lose her. Like, even if Target is only paying $24k a year, or sub-sustenance, she's probably looking to leave. She's probably not earning much more than the janitor at that salary.
Janitor?

Those are referred to as "building engineers" now. Grr...
