not exactly true. it's longer than 45 years ago, but a bunch of little Vietnamese men in a jungle armed with inferior weapons kicked the United States ass. And the US didn't hold anything back except for nuclear weapons. The US tried and failed to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan and impose puppet governments and they got their asses kicked by literal cavemen goat herders.

Moral of the story: you can't take a country that doesn't want you there in the first place, and that you have no legitimate reason to be there in the first place. US soldiers don't even know what they were fighting for in those wars. Vietnamese, Iraqis, and Afghanis were fighting for their homes and their freedom from a foreign aggressor. That's a dangerous f'ing thing to fight against- and you'll lose every single time. Don't matter how big your d*ck is.

Didn't we just throw wave after wave of 19 year olds at them?

If someone like North Korea shot a missle that landed close to Seattle (was an actual threat), we'd make South Korea an island and no troops would set foot over there until we cratered the country.

When has the swamp ever been dry?  I'll hang up and listen.

The US is NATO. We fund it by as much as 75%. We control it.

NATO is the problem. There is zero reason for NATO to want to have Ukraine join it. Ukraine is not a Western European or North American country. Yet they are pushing for that very thing. Why? Really does not make sense.
NATO without us is literally 17 of those little green plastic army men toys.

Tell me about it.

Our youngest served two tours in 'stan, and he know wonders why.

The US withdrawal brought the crappy little country right back to where it all started. 20 years of nothing. Lives lost. Trillions spent. Taliban still there, and more well-armed than they ever were thanks to our graciousness.

For NOTHING.

At least our son came home.

Very well said. There is a huge difference between taking out another countries armies on the battlefield and occupying a country. We are very good at beating the crap out of those that stand up and fight, but then trying to occupy a country of people that don't want you there is another mission all together.

I supported the first Gulf war and how it ended. We kicked Iraq out of Kuwait, took our toys and went home (for the most part). We didn't try to occupy Kuwait and we didn't try to over throw Iraq. We stated the mission, achieved success and the conflict ended.

The 2nd Gulf war could have been just as successful had we followed the same script. However, we assumed the mantel that we needed to rebuild Iraq. BS. Had they not started their crap again, we would not have gone it. However, the minute we tried to rebuild and occupy Iraq, the game was over.

North Korea is a poor 3rd world country with a 3rd rate military. I highly doubt they are a threat to launch a missile that could touch US shores. And they would be wiped off the map if they even tried. Kim Jong-un knows this- he's not stupid.
