Urban gangs prefer pistols, and maybe the occasional Mac.  They fire pretty much randomly large quantities of wasted ammo.  I can't see how many of them would be well trained in shooting, and evidence says most are not.  Spray and pray.

Hunters and the like would take them out at long range if it came to it, meaning anything over 50 meters really.  So yeah, they are not well trained and their arms are not useful in a real fight.

Tesla stock continues to soar. Elon Musk now worth over $300 billion (on paper) according to Bloomberg's Billionaire index. He's now worth $100+ billion more than the second richest person and first biggest jerk off in the world, Jeff Bezos.

Just wait til SpaceX goes public. This guy is going to be the first "official" trillionaire when it's all said and done.

Violence associated with gangs is illegal in nearly every instance and coupled with other illegal activities.  This is obvious of course, but you are welcome to somehow justify violent gangs as being somehow the same as rural folks who are armed and mind their own business.  I doubt anyone else sees much parallel.

Country folk tend to be peaceable in the main even if heavily armed.  And there are of course rural gangs as well.

Rural life leads to more independence and self sufficiency.  Folks often have a well and septic tank, they do need electricity and fuel, which they can buy untaxed if used in farm equipment (this gets abused).  The Co-op is often used and useful.

My life here is quite different versus my life on my grandparent's farm back in the day.
You have just described my setup.

No doubt about it
I highly doubt it. If needing more government is important to city folk, why do "Defund the police" movements come from big cities? The whole thing doesn't make much sense after a cursory review.

Granted, they aren't as well funded.
Funding has nothing to do with it. They generally steal what they have, I have to pay for mine.

You couldn't be more wrong. The only need we have for police is traffic enforcement. Out here in the sticks, we occasionally get people that believe that there are no speed limits. The stupid part is that they sometimes become predictable. For example, we had a guy that would fly down our road and blow the stop sign down at the corner cross roads every day at about the same time. After a few times of this, we called the sheriff and he had a deputy set up waiting for him. I took about 1 or 2 days and he was stopped. Haven't seen him since.
Ok? Not really sure how that is relevant to my point. You said you and your neighbors are well armed and would respond to threats with extreme violence. Ok, fine. How is that any different from neighborhood gangs?

Funding has everything to do with it. You can't go on and on about how many guns you pay for and how much training you have then say money doesn't affect that.

You do realize that law enforcement is simply one aspect of things funded by government don't you? They are not asking for a cut in spending, they want that money to go to other social programs to prop up their lives.

Gangs obviously operate illegally, and are violent as a result.  There is a pretty simple difference here, one is illegal, the other group is legal.

The law is important, except when it isn't.

They need pistols because they get arrested for having weapons and rifles are a lot tougher to hide.

We don't go out looking for fights or committing crimes. We just take care of ourselves and our neighbors. As I said, the violent gangs and thugs would not last long here.

Wouldn't you want money spent to be devoted to propping up your life instead of being arrested and put in jail? Though, like most people, they would rather be left alone.

Yes it costs money. But when talking about criminals and their ability to train, cost is irrelevant as they generally steal what they have in the first place. So really the constraint of funding affects the law abiding more than the criminals.

Well, I grew up in a rural area and there was no shortage of teenagers looking to get in fights and mess around.
