if it's a supply issue of crude to the refineries, perhaps a pipeline would help?
It's more related to production, though some west Texas crude needed a pipeline to be shipped more efficiently, I think one was built.  Oil also gets shipped by rail.  It costs more of course, but it gets shipped.

so, the season has come to an end here in NW Iowa (the great white north).

The golf course closes for the season Saturday evening.  Covering the greens with tarps Sunday.

Since I'll be in Lincoln Saturday, I better get out this afternoon for one final round.

FORE!!!

Come on down.  We got courses open all year.  Can get you a good tee time on Christmas day if you want it, probably at a balmy 72 degrees.

You sort of have to swim through the air from hole to hole, tho.

Yeah, same here regarding courses open, and completely different regarding humidity.

It'll just be $100+/round for holiday pricing at anything that's not a dog track. The dog tracks are $50-75/round, walking, lol.

Why The ’22 Duramax-Powered Silverado 1500’s Max Towing Increase Is A BIG Deal | DrivingLine

Anybody need a low of towing capability?

GM’s diesel-powered half-ton is now officially going to perform up to its full potential thanks to a new max tow package, which allows end-users to pull as much as 13,300 pounds. That’s a 4,000-pound jump over 2021 models and it’s primarily due to the larger rear diff and heavier duty suspension you get when you check the box next to GM’s max tow package. No longer do you have to opt for the 6.2L gasoline V-8 (at the expense of fuel efficiency) in order to enjoy the brand’s heftiest towing capacity.

Actually, the social media algorithms do elevate the extremes, because they garner more clicks.
That is true. They are designed like our biology.

Normally I'd ask how many strokes it took to reach the green, but in this case...

...how many balls did it take to reach the green? :57:

I'd hit one for fun, then take my penalty and say I was laying 2 on the green.

What is the "local food" of note where you live?  Something rarely found elsewhere, but somewhat unique to your area.

Cincy had their chili, I don't think Atlanta has anything, shrimp and grits is popular but pretty widely spread.  I recall having a "pasty" in the UP of Michigan.

Isn't Atlanta where the whole "Chicken N Waffles" thing came from?

For SoCal... A couple.

  • Fish tacos. I mean, they really started down in Ensenada, but they traveled up through San Diego to all of SoCal before they ever were seen elsewhere in the US...
  • Santa Maria is a little too far north to call "local", but they made tri tip a thing.
  • The Christmas Eve tradition of eating tamales (even if you have new Mexican heritage whatsoever).
  • Carne asada fries.
  • Korean fusion taco (made famous / invented by Roy Choi and the Koji food truck)

I could also claim the french dip sandwich, as that was evidently invented in LA... But it's certainly spread nationwide a long time ago,
