So, I kinda agree with this, and kinda don't.

On the one hand, yeah, the loud bonkers stuff gets the attention. But I also think there's something wired in us that gravitates toward the carnage. In arguments, in media, all over.

Like, most media is dry, or at least nothing special. But it's that spicy stuff that gets focused on and slung around. Granted, then capitalism takes over, and folks produce more spice to counter place that produce nothing but it.
Actually, the social media algorithms do elevate the extremes, because they garner more clicks.

I call this the difference between NOISE and SUBSTANCE, we hear a lot of noise from the fringes, while most of us are centrists for the most part.  Few centrists are sufficiently "engaged" to expound on social media.
How does a centrist communicate with a radical?  It's debating a 3-year old....they don't have the wherewithal to even have a back-and-forth.

That is insulting to 3-year olders. Take it back.

The same way one communicates with anyone of any ilk (nearly), you lay out your positions and why, and they lay out theirs.  I had a good friend, an Irish fellow, very nice guy, he classified himself as a Maoist, though he thought Mao was too far right.  He gave me a Mao pin.  Fun guy, very smart, different background obviously, disliked every US politician, so we had that in common.

Another fellow I knew on line called himself a "libertarian socialist", I was fascinated.  So, I asked him a lot of questions.  My intent was to try and understand his views, not change his mind.

Now, there are plenty of extremists with largely emotional views devoid of any facts they dislike, and they are just for amusement, not serious discussion.  But I believe I can have a discussion with anyone who has well founded beliefs on a topic.

You're describing rational people.  The radicals are irrational.  They usually lack a "why" behind their positions - at least any that is sound or prudent.

I'd call someone who calls himself a Maoist a radical by about any metric I can imagine.  There are some "rational radicals".  There are also some folks who believe things which factually are not true, probably more of those than folks who are emotional radicals.  We have some here.  They post things as facts which aren't.

Lucid shares skyrocket after confirming deliveries of $169,000 Air sedan (cnbc.com)

In other news, Lucid Air pops, I'm not sure why exactly, first delivery was anticipated, the car is getting very good reviews which is why I bought some.

I had not known about his struggles in infancy.  Makes me respect him more.

Herschel was a pudgy overweight kid with no talent as a child.

100%. Radicals have meltdowns when their narratives/way of thinking is called into question in even the slightest bit. Like a 3 year old who is told they can't have any candy.

I love watching someone like Jordan Peterson casually, calmly, and intelligently dismantle radicals who lose their shit and become unhinged when he challenges their views and preconceived notions in even the slightest.

No, he was Irish and had a PhD in chemistry.  He drank like a fish, was a good friend, I lost track.  He just had rather extreme ideas, to me, about economic systems.  He wanted equality for all, basically government enforced.  I had a quote about that and he laughed.  I never really understood his scheme though.

Facebook is rebranding to Meta. Did anybody see the video of Mark Zuckerberg announcing this and showing off new tech/ideas for the "new" Meta platform? No way this guy is a human being. He is the weirdest creepiest dweeb in human history. I'm pretty sure he's an alien or a robot that was sent to destroy us. He needs to be killed at once if you ask me.
