Also, other countries have universal health care and less wage disparity, so they're isn't as much pressure to be more qualified for various jobs.

I gave a wine talk in France and stated that the American motto is:

"If some is good, more is better."

Nothing exceeds like excess.

Throughout grade school, junior high, and high school, I was in theater, band, and choir.  I dreamt of acting and singing on Broadway, and I also loved theater production and thought I'd make a good director.

But, I also like having money.  So, EE it was.

I would think there should be pressure to be qualified for one's job, no?

The wife has scathing things to say about French "workers".  So does my French buddy, who I haven't seen since last January.

We chat a bit by email, he's not much for email.

The last tme we were in Paris we entered south of the Seine and our hotel was north of it, and every bridge was closed by police because of a protest.

It was quite annoying, but the wife was driving.  She kept looking for another bridge, and  traffic of course was barely moving.  They finally finished protesting around 4 PM and opened the bridges and we made the hotel.

The other fun thing was the garbage workers were on strike and the city had garbage everywhere.

January 2020, before "it" happened.  It was also cold and dismal.

Paris is great.  You just gotta be relaxed and not expect too much to run on schedule.

It ain't Germany, you know.

I tell people it's my least favorite French city.  That gets a rise out of folks.

I've spent some time now in every major French city, and quite a few lesser ones.  I think Lyon is pretty nice.

Paris is a big city.  I like it for similar reasons to why I like NYC or London.  They're also all a huge pain in the ass.

I spent the most time in Nantes, which I enjoyed.  Nice was touristy and expensive even by French standards.  Aix en Provence and Bordeaux are among my favorites.  I've never been to Lyon but I'll put it on the list.
