If you guys are paying $150-250 for a steak dinner, I'll go ahead and start a gofundme and you can just spread the wealth this way.
someone else is buying if dinner and drinks for 2 are $150 - in my world

my daughter took me there for Father's day - she's a server at a decent place.
We each had the Archie’s Special Extra Thick = 19.99 (every steak they serve is dry aged) a helluva sirloin
The small onion rings (fabulous) =  6.99
no wine but a couple beers for me.

probably around $70

Do any of those college rankings focus on return on investment?  I see it by major, but not by school overall.

That seems like an impossible study which would have a lot of noise and not be very useful.   Alum participation in salary surveys is notoriously low and probably not exactly representative.

Other than possibly opening a few doors (think ND, SC, Ivy's), where you went to school matters little after you start working. It's mostly all about the major in the private sector.

I'd hire someone from any school* right now if I could find them.

Now, now, the University of South Carolina has a pretty decent engineering school as I understand it

I had one from there, a long time ago. She was very good. Moved back home after about 3 years. Tough to lose her.

I had the 26 oz porterhouse a week ago - had to be one of the top 10 steaks in my lifetime

simply amazing

How much is that compared to say beef ribs?

I enjoy a BBQ beef rib more than a ribeye cause the fat renders and has better eatability

Its funny you should mention ND

I had a guy working under me one time that graduated from ND and he was the most arrogant person Ive ever been around
One day I had to tell him it was my way or the highway and he chose the later which I was all too willing to help him with

I was surprised back in the day at the disparity in abilities and educational knowledge from various universities.  I had thought if you came from a good one you'd likely be pretty good, and vice versa.  While there may have been a slight correlation, it wasn't by any means determinative.

I hired a technician once from Northwestern STATE.  Our director thought he came from NW, I let him think that.  He was a very good employee.  He enjoyed lab work.

I hired another guy who had a degree in archeology from the U. of Ohio.  He was also very good, show him something once and he had it.  And I had a tech dumped on me by another group from Xavier (Cin) who was the only person I ever had to fire for incompetence.  He was beyond inept, he would do ridiculous dangerous things in the lab.  I finally had to sit him down in his office doing nothing for the weeks to get the paperwork done.

You good people from all over, and bad.
