Because it is divisive and promotes segregation 

this country only has 1 national anthem and its for everyone not just one race

but PBS did a pretty good job of not going against the National Anthem and put it at the very end of the show

so it could have been worse

I'm not sure how you get that singing another song could be "going against" the national anthem.  It's like gay marriage - it doesn't affect you in the slightest, yet it bothers you so.

The song itself is for the most part fine 

What I object to is holding out another song as the National Anthem for Black people

Especially if they start replacing our national anthem at group events or singing it in tandem with our national anthem at group events

If someone just wants to sing this song in a show performance no problem

It is. But alas, it’s too often used as a cudgel to be about “me” and not “us.” That’s the beauty.
