Well, this is what I learned in History all the way back in 6th and 7th grade ( early 70s).

The teachers were crystal clear about the abhorrent deeds of those who were involved in years of slavery, and how its effects continue.

so why now do we need to change those teachings to make it clear all white people were in on it when so many died to stop it?
Who is trying to teach that all white people are in on slavery. Or that the Civil War didn't happen? There has been a century long effort to rehab the image of the Confederacy into some sort of noble cause. I can't imagine a bigger bunch of spit on Union soldiers than saying the Confederacy was some sort of decent operation based on noble differences in policy.

I see all manner of birds of prey nowadays I never saw when I was a kid.  Theyre seemingly everywhere.  Earlier this morning while sticking down the magic beans of consciousness (coffee)  I watched an osprey being chased by two brave Blue Jay's... I see hawks all the time of several varieties, owls, and even a falcon... its a huge thing the size of a red tailed hawk but it's black and white. I only know it's a falcon because someone told me- I would have guessed it's a marked cruiser in the hawk genre.
I have a woods and a creek  between my house and a park and have plenty of Coopers Hawks around which catch alot of birds, seen them grab Blue Jays quite a bit 😎.Last summer however as I went into the backyard  by the woodline I heard what I thought was a Huey Helicopter lifting off WHOOSH .It was a RedTailed Hawk, biggest bird I've seen up close, evidently we startled each other and as he  took off dropped a squirrel he caught he scared the crap out of my neighbor also. But the Bird stopped in the neighbors tree.He worked hard for that squirrel and wasn't going to let a couple of schleppers make off with his meal.We came back about 20 minutes later and the Hawk/Squirrel were gone.We do have Bald Eagles around mostly along the Lake Erie Shore
Suburbia:Where they tear out the trees & then name streets after them.

I think what was done to the Natives of this land is probably "our" biggest sin.

I also think what is commonly overlooked is who exactly was selling slaves to be brought here. Had there been no supply, there would not be a market.

History.
I mean, I wouldn't support putting some statues of African kings or the various slavers who helped raid and spark conflict in the region, either. Also, the importation of slaves was banned in 1808. Didn't exactly kill the slave trade. In any event, why would that make anyone celebrate plantation owners rebelling against America so that they wouldn't lose money?

The Nazis, and Hitler, started WW Two, most of it anyway, leading to the deaths of how many, 40 million? 80?  We don't even know.  And how much massive destruction?

The 6 million is horrific of course and hard to imagine, civilians and defenseless (for the most part).

  • World War II was the deadliest military conflict in history in terms of total dead, with some 75 million people casualties including military and civilians, or around 3% of the world’s population at the time.
  • Many civilians died because of deliberate genocide, massacres, mass-bombings, disease, and starvation.
  • The Soviet Union lost around 27 million people during the war, including 8.7 million military and 19 million civilians. This represents the most military deaths of any nation by a large margin.
  • Germany sustained 5.3 million military losses, mostly on the Eastern Front and during the final battles in Germany.
  • Of the total number of deaths in World War II, approximately 85 percent were on the Allied side and 15 percent were on the Axis side, with many of these deaths caused by war crimes committed by German and Japanese forces in occupied territories.
  • Nazi Germany, as part of a deliberate program of extermination, systematically killed over 11 million people including 6 million Jews.
  • In addition to Nazi concentration camps, the Soviet gulags (labor camps) led to the deaths of 3.6 million civilians.

We spent a night in Orlean, pretty nice city, interesting, most of it was bombed out, and they tried to rebuilt is something like how it was.  We did the bombing of course.  Probably the best B&B I've ever stayed at there.

No.  No, no, no, no.
As a teacher, it's literally my job to teach what happened (in this subject and case).  If a student has an opposing view, it's absolutely not canceled or suppressed, but investigated for validity.  If it's an invalid view, that's a "teachable moment."  It's not an "Ha-ha!" or "gotcha" moment in any way.
.
Wen you're discussing teaching and learning, you're talking so far out of your ass, I don't know how to properly describe it.
You are the dumbest person I have come across in a long time.  And you are a liar.  And nobody is buying it.  And, yes, it is exactly what they are teaching in some places. Universities, and some inner city schools.  EXACTLY.  And you know that.

you can whine about it being exposed until forever.  It won’t change what is going on and why so many will stand up in opposition
And, if your willing to put your lack of credibility out there by claiming the left is NOT censoring, leveraging cancel culture, and completely suppressing news that disproves YOUR narrative- don’t be so surprised that you cant be taken seriously.
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

So you can stop talking out YOUR ass, here is a place you may want to start to educate yourself :

https://newdiscourses.com/2020/06/beginners-curriculum-critical-race-theory/

It will give you a better understanding of the roots of Critical Race Theory, Whiteness studies, White Fragility, and the spectrum of beliefs and approaches out there. More importantly it gives you suggested reference books, essays and teachings.  And lastly some of this material will make you and SAM more aware of what is already out there, being taught, and where it appears to be evolving to.

Sharing a website that soothes your confirmation bias isn't helpful.  It never is.  But it's the only type of link you ever post.

His interwebs sources tell him it's happening and so it's a giant boogeyman to be afraid of.
Poor republicans, always told to fear something that isn't real.

I have actually followed them before. Lindsay is kind of a nut, but Pluckrose is pretty reasonable. And many of their criticisms are good. But they also tend to miss the forest in the trees. Badge points out, rightly, that African people were happy to sell slaves. But they were overwhelmingly people they captured during conflicts and wars with other tribes. More recently, Rwanda had an entire genocide where the one ethnic group attacked another.

People constantly chime in, on this site, about how various tribes flock together. And perhaps it is. But there is another side to this coin. Some groups are going to get some unearned benefits and some are going to get some unearned problems. The idea that we should ban talking about this, which everyone knows is true, is pretty crazy. It is the height of political correctness.

If you weren’t such an idiot and could actually read you would see that the ratings listed there do not confirm anything that I’m saying but give a very balanced point of view.

But what the books and readings do confirm is how obviously incorrect you are when you claim to know what is not being taught when in fact it actually is.

so many things and so many bogeyman living rent free in that empty head of yours. Please stop discussing things of which you clearly know absolutely nothing about and please please stop using the fact that you’re a teacher as an excuse for your stupidity when you’re trying to pretend you are knowledgeable

Oh I am actually all for talking about virtually all aspects of this “tribal“ flocking thing-  ecause it is actually very real.

But let’s not pretend that’s what’s being objected to because it’s not. What’s being objective to is the idea that one tribe is the owner and to blame for all of it. And that is very real, and that is being taught, and that is being promoted, how many politicians, many universities, and many in the main stream media.

I am on the executive committee for diversity and inclusion, newly formed in the organization I work for and for good reason.  These things are open we discussed virtually all of the time and we are reading this material virtually all of the time.  Not only do we not run from the conversation we seek it. But that doesn’t mean we all agree on solutions.

for example you may or may not agree with the following new proclamation:

A person can’t be “non-racist“.  If you are white and are not an anti-racist activist, then by definition you are a racist.  That is one of the new theories and teachings.

wow I don’t hold it against somebody who has that opinion I certainly disagree with that and would find it totally inappropriate for that to be taught in a school, but it actually is being taught and that is a fact.

Why do you only concern yourself with the most radical, tiny tip of far-leftist garbage you can find news about?
Me being a teacher is sort of pertinent, don't you think - as I look through the actual standards we're tasked with teaching on an annual basis.
You have no firsthand knowledge of this, just responding with outrage at things you read about and are told to be outraged about.
.
You're obsessed with fringe bullshit.
