The daughter wanted to watch Coming to America II last night, so we did.  I think there were 3 or 4 funny lines, maybe, I almost went to bed after 15 minutes, it was not remotely on par with the original.  It was as dumb as sequels often are.
sorry to hear that we are going to watch it tonight so Im prepared
Eh. It's stupid funny, just like the original.

We watched the original the night before, and it aged about as well as you'd expect a 1980s comedy to age. We have nostalgia for the original, though, so we ascribe some level of "special" significance to it.

Neither is as good as Trading Places.

Took the wife and son up to Sweetwater Brewery, it is 79°F. partly cloudy, nice day to sit on the patio and have some brewskis.

Granted, it's an 1115 yard 9 hole course. So it's not particularly challenging, which of course means it's perfect.
For you or him?
I don't mean that it'll be easy for him... But if I brought him out to some par 36 9-hole course measuring 3500 yards and made him play from the tips... You might as well call DCFS on me... That's child abuse!

I played that course yesterday morning at +14 with two quadruple bogeys... So it can be a "challenge" for anyone if you play like crap.

We did our St Patrick's Day meal yesterday since we won't have the kids on Wednesday.

It was the first time corning our own beef. I bought a 19# brisket and about 7# of chuck roast. I separated the point from the flat on the brisket, and after trimming all the fat I ground the brisket and the chuck together for burger meat.

I then brined the flat for 8 days, and ended up with around 7# of meat post-brine. That was too much, so I quartered it and vacuum sealed two of the quarters for freezing, and cooked the two remaining quarters.

It was delicious! Tender and with that perfect red color. Served with roasted cabbage, roasted red potatoes, and sous vide carrots.

Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures.

Crazy America's Cup races today.
We had our first lead change in the 7th race (tied up 3-3).  New Zealand wins to go up 4-3.
.
Then the real fun happened - both boats experienced being listless - dead in the water, due to pockets of no wind.  It's crazy seeing vessels that can sail 50 mph drawing dead in the water.  They shortened the race due to this, and New Zealand wins again, up 5-3.

The original was funny. That was back in the heyday of Eddie Murphy's prime, when his powers were at their peak. Anything that guy did back then was gold. Not sure there has ever been a comedian/actor as big as Eddie Murphy was back in the 80s to early 90s. He was IT. Even as big as Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler got- to me neither felt like they were ever as big, famous, or larger than life than Eddie Murphy was in his day.

I honestly didn't think the sequel was funny at all. I thought it was trying to hard to be "woke" and that it was in general just flat out terrible. The only part of that movie that was any good was Wesley Snipes' cameo. Oh and his daughter Bopopo or whatever.

Very few sequels ever are any good. Especially ones that come 30 years later. Most sequels that are any good- they make them a few years right after the original. GF2 came out just 2 years later, and was arguably better than GF1- when they waited 20+ years to come out with another GF sequel- it was absolutely awful. Have to strike while that creative and cultural iron is hot otherwise the sequels just wind up being trash. Look at all the Star Wars' from the early 2000s and late 2010's. God awful.
