Cleaning a house isn't difficult, it's more about effort than anything.  My mother taught me the proper way of cleaning every week while growing up.  We may have had the cleanest house in the area.

I don't have the cleanest house in town today, but it's not filthy.  Since it's just me and the daughter, I clean when I'm motivated.  Usually when I might be expecting guests.

No one with a house like that pays their fair share of taxes.
Define "fair" share and we can talk. Maybe.

I don't like cleaning bathrooms, especially toilets, but it's really not that bad.
Throw some denture cleaner in the bowl over nite.Or "cleaning" vinegar in the tank - then flush and let it sit in the bowl for an hour or so

I have a 3000sf House, Nice thing about it is it has a Casita, I have been using as an office for my side business for awhile. Now my wife using it since she is working from home and will probably continue to do so.

We have no need for the 5 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths, but we love our backyard, nice play pool, fire pit and lots of room to entertain.  We have been talking about selling it, we have enough equity to purchase a smaller home outright, but would have to give up the backyard.  It is hard to find smaller homes with big lots in the Phoenix area. Particularly since we want to stay near my work. (I am only 4 miles from my plant).

I figure I am probably 7 years from retirement, since my wife won't retire until then. Though there are days when I think I will just go ahead and do it. So we will probably wait to sell the house, but then again we could invest our current house payment until retirement.  But I love my backyard.  If you climbed my wall in the summer, you will find me floating in my pool with a beer in my hand with classic rock playing, probably not wearing a swim suit.

As to keeping the house clean that is what a cleaning service is for, we have used the same lady for over 10 years.  I don't work in the yard, so we have a landscaping company. Other than we can't go out and listen and dance to live music right now our life is pretty easy.  We have been spending more time on the golf course this year since we can do that.  Still a terrible golfer, but a good excuse to drink beer (like I need one) and just enjoy the Phoenix weather.

One feature of our tax code is that we tax INCOME in the main (Fed), not wealth (except on death).  A person with a lot of wealth, say $100 mil, can easily dodge taxes simply by having no income (or buying municipals).  He or she may own some larger company worth a lot of money and simply not take income out of it.

Take Bezos, most of his wealth is in "stock".  If he doesn't sell, he doesn't have income (unless they pay a dividend).

I pay what for me seems like a high property tax here, these folks certainly pay much higher.  It's just amazing to me how many of these mansions exist inside the city limits.

Supposedly, Loeffler our Senate candidate, is worth half a trillion in something, no idea where she lives.

Anyway, the wife and I enjoy driving about and oogling, especially in Spring.

I like property tax.  Most folks pay their fair share and it stays local.  Doesn't go to Washington, get wasted and then sent to the east or west coast.

I do some oogling of fancy large houses on fancy golf courses.  Very thankful I don't have to pay the mortgage, the taxes, or the utility bill on those wastes of sq footage.

#7 - ~150 yard par 3. Competely wormburner my tee shot. Just a total skull. Leaving me about 75-80 to the [back] pin. I choke down on my SW, trying to take a reasonably full (but gentle) swing. Strike the ball PURE... Which means I go about 8 yards too far, into the bunker behind the green. And because it was a beautiful, high, sand wedge, means it was coming almost straight down, and ends up in its own ball mark. Thankfully not plugged, but a terrible lie. Took me two to get it onto the green. So now I'm lying 4 on a par three, and two-putt for a triple-bogey 6. So the tee shot was bad but recoverable--I certainly could have gotten up and down for bogey. But the second shot going over the green into a terrible lie in a bunker was killer.

That course is about 12 miles from my house. When I first moved back from GA to CA, I lived in an apartment complex that backed up to the course. I could take a little walking trail along the course down to the beach for exercise. Beautiful course.

Never played it, though... Can't afford the $300 weekend greens fees!

I'm so not a Page Six person but this Hilary Baldwin story is fascinating to me.

Or is it Hilarious Baldwin

I had no idea who she was 36 hours ago.

Yeah, I think property tax is a rational thing in general, some places have it too high (NJ).

Finally got a chance to work on the Jeep's audio system again after getting back the [no trouble found] amplifier from Alpine...

I ran new speaker wire to the two front channels, which immediately fixed those. Not sure how the factory speaker wire on the fronts had gotten screwed up... But whatever.

Also ran new speaker wire to the subwoofer, thinking that might be the problem. Nope... Upon looking at the speaker itself, one of the two voice coils is electrically open. So that's just a dead speaker. Makes a little bit of sense, given that the sub had just completely cut out one day as I hit a bump. But disappointing... I'll need to order a new one. Can't even replace it under warranty as I bought it from an unauthorized reseller (Amazon) to save money.

But once this project is over I can start thinking about buying a floor jack, some jack stands, a new torque wrench, and can finally install the lift kit that's been sitting in my garage for ~2 months.
