30 acres up the road just sold for $10.5 Mil, and now they need to bring in 2-3 feet of fill across the whole site in order to make in buildable under current code. 360K cubic yards of dirt. That's 30K semis X $250/load. $7.5 Mil.

A lot of gators are going to get displaced when he fills in that swampland.

It's not swampland. It's in the mapped floodplain (surge zone) so it needs to be raised.

Current use is agriculture (cows).

You could do that but fixing a golf course after saltwater inundation is very difficult and expensive.

I know people who said they've seen crocs around here on occasion, while out fishing in the estuary. My understanding is that they are mostly concentrated in the Everglades, which makes sense since they are generally afraid of people (which is why they aren't seen much).
