I think that was the plane where he accidentally radioed the tower and said something to the effect of "we have a bomb on board, just stay quiet and nobody move"

The transponder wouldn't impact their ability to respond to a radio call, being on the right frequency would.  He'd have know the transponder was off from his radar returns, if he had any.  Commercial radar isn't powerful enough to 'paint' aircraft at much distance without the transponder being on.

that's what he told Tom Brokaw's people who called to request an interview. Whether he was told to say it I dunno. He also trained some ATCers at Biloxi,Miss.,when he was in the USAF. I never got into the particulers with him,he's old school tight lipped unless one of the other brothers were giving him some

That was probably in New York or Boston from where they left if that was the case I'm guessing

My Brother was on duty as ATC in the tower at Johnstown Pa. Airport 30 some miles from Shanksville(crash site). Flight 93 turned around over Cleveland here and headed east,Cleveland Tower had radioed forward to him the flight was headed that way,He radioed the flight but they had the transponder turned off.Crash happened shortly after RIP To All of them(except the 4 shit stains)
It wasn't a "crash".

Probably not, maybe definitely they had to consider the unfortunate alternatives. Couldn't prove it by me one way or another

Cell phones don't work up there. Tower antennas point DOWN.

Those "let's roll" phone calls to loved ones are completely fabricated.

Could you imagine if a group of fuckers tried to take over a plane with box-cutters that we were all on????

(Gray News) - Costco is warning members about bottles of prosecco sold in a dozen states that could shatter spontaneously.

The wholesaler is recalling its Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene because unopened bottles could shatter even when not being handled.

The impacted prosecco’s item number is 1879870. They were sold between April 25, 2025, and Aug. 26, 2025, in Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Costco advises customers not to open or return any unused bottles. Instead, they recommend members wrap the bottle in paper towels and place it in a plastic bag before throwing it away.

Members can receive a full refund by returning the recall letter they received to a Costco store.
