I was told way back I'd never be allowed on a jury, and there I sat, on two of'em.  The voir dire was not antagonistic or in depth like one might see on TV.  We filled out cards with our personal info.  I've known lawyers who were on juries.  In my case the process was pretty quick except one event which was a DUI case where the lawyers were going at it, the judge said the case would take 3 days, all for a DUI.

Oh, on that case I was rejected by the defense at the last minute.

as a former prosecutor, I was knowingly (by both side) put on to a jury in a criminal case about two years ago.  I was rather surprised.   i was also voluntold into the role of jury foreman in about 45 seconds by the other jurors, the moment we were sent to the jury room for a break.

separately: as someone working in the financial services space (with clients who manage crypto related products).   there are a lot of people in this industry/business who don't understand how blockchain works.     Cases like this are really hard to manage/prosecute.

I served on a jury once, right out of college.  I've never been summoned since.

Told by whom?  Is there a central, jury determination agency that told you this?  Or just some random law connected person who expressed their opinion?

I got called and dismissed while in college.  It was a breaking and entering case with attempted larceny.  The defense was that he was an alcoholic who thought it was his brothers house, and that he wasn't breaking in to steal anything.  The defense dismissed me because at 19 I didn't understand alcoholism.

After that, the UM alum DA said "well he does go to MSU, so he's on his way."  I was so excited when that asshole got run out of office for corruption.  I mean if a friend or a coworker or even a family member says that, whatever.  But for a DA to say that to a 19 year old potential juror?

Apparently I'm on the hook for jury duty in early Nov.

Hoping I don't get called.

I received my first jury notice last year.  Called the day before and was told I wasn't need.  I would love to serve on a jury at least once in my life
