Happy Birthday, America!
« on: July 04, 2021, 11:33:41 AM »
I'm at my dad's in GA, we're hosting a BBQ and hopefully can see the small-town fireworks display from the yard.
.
The 4th is always fun, and I can love the U.S. and all its great aspects without pretending its perfect.  Or united.
Just have fun out there!

At my brother in law’s in Tennessee. Pool, grilling, fireworks. All the normal stuff. No booze though. Mother in law is with us and she is a tea totaler. No drinking with her around.

I'm  smoking meats and we're hanging by the pool today.  Lots of family and a few friends coming over.

We're lucky enough to be able to see the city fireworks from my front yard, so that's what we'll be doing around 9:15.

Then probably more beers and swimming.  I ain't got to work tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, America.

Helping out a friend with some dog sitting. It means I get to hang out and they’re very nice backyard. Also having my first extremely chill day this week, so I’ll take it.

Happy birthday America!

Visiting brother in Escondido CA. His front balcony has a good inland-looking view of where the fireworks will launch above the palm trees in about another 8 hrs. Our Dad here for a few days from Tucson. Brother’s in-laws here as well, visiting from Houston, and whom I’m advised not to “drink all day around.” All of us watching a virtual church sermon on YouTube live before the grill gets turned on.

If you haven't been, try to check out the Stone World Bistro & Gardens. Good food, good beer, good ambiance.

The wife committed us to go up to some lady's condo in the building to watch fireworks, the "PH" level.  I guess I consented, but I'm not much for such things, and I'm not real crazy about that lady, she's a bit "showy".  I might slip out early or something to wash my nylons.

We live on the top floor of our half of the building, but it's not called the PH level.

Ted Turner's daughter used to live here I'm told.  Ted and his wife used to visit.  I'm not fond of of his ex-wife.

The wife got a bit annoyed at me and finally said I didn't have to go and should have just told her I didn't want to attend in the first place.  (I did, repeatedly, say I was far from enthused, and she argued it would be good for me.)

She went and returned in a huff.  She'll get over it.

The problem is when I say emphatically NO I DO NOT WANT TO GO, she starts arguing why it would be good for me.  She wants to go to some van Gogh exhibit here and asked me repeatedly to schedule it.  I have not done so, as I told her I was not interested.

I think I'll reiterate that point this AM as she says I don't communicate clearly.  I'll be clear and get into trouble.

I'm often amazed how I can be CLEAR and others will think I don't really mean it.  The wife actually is not bad about this compared with others.

I finally get monosyllabic and terse, and "they" finally seem to understand, but they start arguing with me, which I dislike immensely.

Others seem often to know what I REALLY think and desire.

I'm used to it nowadays.  I usually just smile and nod and wonder off dazedly into my corner and sit.

A LOT of things in life I used to stress over are simply not worth it, at all.
