Games You Plan On Attending This Fall 2026
« on: June 13, 2026, 10:56:34 AM »
Planning for the following:

Aug 29: Memphis @ UNLV – Supposed to be working in Vegas that week; will maybe check out UNLV football in the new Raiders stadium, which by now isn’t that new

Sept 19: Florida @ Auburn – Another Auburn trip, both teams with new coaches

Oct 10: Hawaii @ Arizona St – Weather will be cooling off across Phoenix; OOC opponent Hawaii pushed to later in season after a ASU’s London game Vs Kansas in September reshuffled schedule

Oct 24: Iowa State @ Arizona – Arizona’s homecoming game; ISU should offer an "easier" opponent given how down they’re expected to be

Nov 13: Illinois @ UCLA – Friday night game; would be first time seeing Illinois in person

On top of all that, might do the Territorial Cup if in Tucson for Thanksgiving weekend, and hoping to go to another dumpy Bowl Game, maybe in the Phoenix area.

For the Auburn trip, there's a Waffle House I always stop for in La Grange Georgia on my drive from Atlanta into Alabama. It's definitely the South in there with the cooks with DIY prison tattoos down their forearms & cigarettes behind their ears like pencils, and the lilting drawl of smiley waitresses idling together at the coffeemaker.

On the wall above the toasters is a picture commemorating the former franchise owner who ran the place for three decades until her recent death. I was able to meet her back around 2018 when her husband started recognizing me - yes, he couldn't tell you the news outside of sports but could recognize customers at yearlong intervals.

I’m a little irritated. Last year, a bunch of regional games set up really nicely for trips. The schedule doesn’t look as favorable this year. So we shall see.

Not sure if we will do any games this year. Miami has a decent home schedule. Florida's is OK.

UF/UGA in Atlanta could be fun.

Schedule is shaping up.

9/12 - Ohio State at Texas
10/10 - Texas-OU at the Cotton Bowl
11/14 - Tennessee at Texas A&M
11/27 - Texas at Texas A&M

I might squeak one more game in Aggieland onto the schedule.  Not because I'm missing my daughter, no that's not it at all... :)

That actually sounds fun, not sure why.  But if I felt like putting myself through a gameday again, that'd be a neat candidate.

Only ever went to one game in CS, and that was in 2004.

Big games in College Station are a lot of fun, as long as you're not wearing burnt orange.  We chose that one because one of my i s c & a aggie wife's aggie besties will be coming into town for it.  They live somewhere way out east, like Naconowhere or something.

The University of Iowa College of Law offered me free lunch and a free parking pass today for the Iowa State game. There are very few parking spots in the law school lot. I went to undergrad at Iowa, but graduated from law school at FSU. I advertised a law clerk position today, and in response, received this offer.

The game tickets are $200+. I'd like to go; the parking is worth $35-$40. Lunch is probably worth $10-$15. The convenience of not toting a cooler around, probably $10. But the aftermarket game tickets seem outrageous, and I am still upset Iowa ever started this series as an annual series adding credibility to Iowa State as a major football program (which they weren't), and deleted Notre Dame as Iowa's nonconference rival.

I have a decent television set

Am I living in yesteryear?

Go to a South Florida game.

$200 is a lot for a game you're not excited about
