I just learned that the new 2025 Toyota Camrys are all manufactured as hybrids.  There is not a single pure ICE amongst them, and won't be.

Doesn't mean much, I suppose, but it does signal which way Toyota thinks the wind is blowing in the sedan market.

Toyota was of course the first to push hybrids in a major way, and it has worked for them, and Honda as well.

I can't tell our hybrid is a hybrid, without looking at the dash.  It's very smooth, the engine cuts on and off again without any noticeable perturbation.  One downside is fuel economy is not great at steady speed over 75 mph.

the Taycan. The battery range is awful on it and when you’re out and about the charging networks just point blank aren’t on par with Tesla’s.

you can get a charge up to 80% in about 15-20 minutes- which is fine- but the problem is finding the chargers and many times waiting for people in front of you to finish charging before you can get a charge. And many of these people will take an hr and charge to 100% instead of just the 15-20 mins to get to 80% and back on the road. Some of the newer stations only allow you to charge to 80% than it shuts down your charge- keeps things moving- wish every station was like that.

I have very limited experience driving a hybrid.  The ones I have rented all suffered from the strange engine-revving, seemingly unrelated to anything to do with speed or change of speed, that I read about frequently....so it must be a thing.

A review I read about the new Camrys specifically mentioned the writer did not notice that, which was a good thing.  I'm just skeptical because....all the ones I've driven do randomly rev, and it's off-putting.

The engine revving issue sounds to me like those cars had a CVT, "continuously variable transmission".  They do help with gas mileage but often drive oddly, the engine may rev while not much is really going on.  I wanted to avoid a CVT, so our hybrid has a normal 6 speed transmission.  I also wanted to avoid a DCT, "dual clutch" type.
