Do we have a general self-driving thread?  I don't know, so I'll put this here:

Tesla's FSD has been right around the corner for the last decade. And it might be right around the corner for the next one too.

Yup, way back when I was very bullish on it.  Now, not so much.

The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt Is Coming Soon, Very Soon

The Bolt's price tag, though not confirmed, is widely expected to land at or around the $30,000 mark, while delivering near or close to 300 miles of driving range. Chevrolet has confirmed that the new Bolt will use GM's Ultium component set—the branding of which has changed—meaning it's likely to incorporate the front motor from the entry-level Equinox EV and sit on a similar platform, albeit one smaller and more carlike than that SUV.

That is a weird story because my father in law (RIP) bought a Bolt in 2020 just before the pandemic and it was something like $26K back then.  So this new one is not really any cheaper.

2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV Review, Pricing, and Specs

$37,495–$41,895
I can promise you he didn't pay that.  Typical of automakers, there's the sticker price, and then there's the price he paid.  I'm certain that it was some kind of special.  He actually had wanted an electric car for many, many years and when they made this deal he snapped one up.  I had to drive to Dallas from S. of Houston and trailer the thing back for him.  In his last few years this car was about the only thing that brought him joy, he loved being able to charge at home (level 1 only) and he loved the car.  He lived through the oil embargoes of the 70's and actually bought a diesel truck in the early 80's because he said even during the embargoes you could always get diesel.  This is back in the day when not every station even had diesel, very very few domestic vehicles used diesel only big rigs.

I just looked up some old text messages ( I keep my old messages a long time).  Yep, he paid $26K plus TTL in February of 2020.  Here's an article about the pricing from way back:
